Supplier costs don't usually spike. They drift. A little here, a little there. Freight surcharges, pricing exceptions, contracts renewing without a market check. Individually minor. Combined, real margin pressure with no obvious explanation. We wrote about how this happens, and what to look for before it hits your margins ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eDB3e5HX #Procurement #SpendManagement #CFO

"We can plug our data into AI and just get a spending strategy." We hear this more and more. And to be fair, AI is genuinely useful for organizing and summarizing data. There is a significant gap between having organized data and knowing what to do with it. A spending strategy needs procurement judgment, not a prompt. We put together 5 questions every growing company should be asking about its spending. If you can't answer them confidently, there's likely money sitting on the table. https://lnkd.in/eHG8_Ndc

Many organizations rely on RFPs as their primary approach to strategic sourcing. That’s understandable, but strategic sourcing is much broader. RFPs are real work, and when done well, they create structure, comparability, and defensible decisions. They are a critical part of the sourcing process. An RFP is designed to collect and compare vendor proposals. It is not, on its own, a sourcing strategy. When RFPs are run without the broader context, including spend analysis, market understanding, clearly defined requirements, and post-award governance, the process delivers a vendor selection, not a sourcing outcome. Over time, that distinction starts to show up in cost, performance, and risk. Strategic sourcing is broader by design. It begins before the RFP and continues after the contract is signed. In our latest blog, we walk through where the RFP fits within the sourcing process and where organizations unknowingly expose themselves to gaps when the process isn’t structured end-to-end. https://lnkd.in/gGAGNtGF #StrategicSourcing #Procurement #RFP #SourcingStrategy #CostOptimization #SpendManagement #OperationalEfficiency

Most mid-market procurement functions are operationally busy and structurally invisible. Someone's buying. Vendors are being managed. Yet no one owns the strategy behind it. Without leadership ownership, procurement exists as work instead of a leadership function. Our latest blog explores why this happens and what changes when procurement leadership is introduced. https://lnkd.in/eMN8D5Bw

Do you need procurement consulting or fractional procurement leadership? For many organizations, it comes down to understanding what they are trying to address. Some situations call for targeted support around a specific challenge or project, while others require ongoing procurement leadership. Our latest blog explores how mid-market organizations can think about the difference between these two models and when each tends to make sense. https://lnkd.in/eZp4cju2

Across many mid-market companies we work with, procurement improvements often take a similar shape. The goal usually isn’t to build a large internal procurement function or introduce enterprise-scale procurement models. More often, the companies we work with are simply looking for practical improvements that fit their size and structure. That often means bringing in procurement leadership on an as-needed basis, whether for a specific initiative, supplier negotiation, or period of growth. In this article, we outline several practical considerations that can help guide the evaluation of procurement consulting partners. Link: https://lnkd.in/ev57xWEf

When do companies actually need outsourced procurement or fractional support? It is rarely about replacing internal teams. More often, it is about filling a leadership gap, introducing structure, or bringing experienced oversight to complex supplier decisions without adding permanent headcount. In our latest blog, we outline the common inflection points where this model adds value, what it looks like in practice, and how mid-market organizations can strengthen procurement capability while retaining control.
