We have found that many people are surprised to learn just how prevalent heart defects are when compared to more well-known medical conditions. With February being Heart Month, we wanted to share the inspiration behind our organization - Arturo. Heart defects are the most common type of birth defect and the leading cause of infant mortality due to defect worldwide. Unfortunately 50% of all heart defects are NOT discovered during pregnancy. Tiny HeartsCan Foundation wants to change this through our specialized training programs for ultrasound technologists and public outreach initiatives. We have already helped to train over 130 sonographers across Alberta, and have provided FREE resources to organizations across the country. What an accomplishment!! One of our posters has been spotted in the wild - this one in Ontario. Thanks to your generous support, we have been able to create, print, and distribute 170 scanning planes posters to ultrasound facilities across Canada! Providing this resource free of cost has allowed us to send these posters to small, rural clinics in Saskatchewan, to larger organizations in Toronto and beyond.
