As the first chapter of the Canadian Support Workers Association (CANSWA), OPSWA leads the way in advocacy, certification, and professional recognition for PSWs—ensuring their essential role in healthcare is respected and protected. Our Role OPSWA is the only verifying organization for PSWs in Ontario, setting the benchmark for excellence in the profession. All certified OPSWA members are required to: ✅ Hold a minimum of $2 million in professional liability insurance ✅ Complete annual national and local police background checks ✅ Have their educational credentials verified ✅ Follow a strict professional code of conduct OPSWA-certified PSWs represent the highest standard of care, ethics, and accountability in the industry.
