Surrey Digital Printing is a strong example of the businesses helping shape our region's growth. They support companies, construction teams, nonprofits, schools, events, and community organizations with the professional materials they need to communicate clearly, promote their work, and bring their projects to life. Thank you to Joslyn Young and the Surrey & White Rock Board of Trade for organizing such an important discussion on education, growth, and strengthening BC’s economy. It was great to be part of a conversation focused on the future of education, workforce development, and the changing needs of our economy. As someone working closely in the private education sector, I truly appreciate the government’s investment and focus on skills training and post secondary education. At the same time, I also hope there can be more conversation around the role private colleges play in BC’s economy and labour market. Private institutions are helping thousands of students gain practical skills, complete vocational education faster, and become job ready in industries where skilled workers are urgently needed. Many students choose private colleges because of flexible schedules, focused programs, and quicker pathways into employment. I believe both public and private institutions can work together to strengthen BC’s future workforce. Supporting one sector should not mean overlooking the contribution of the other. A balanced approach can create more opportunities for students, employers, and the economy as a whole. Thank you again Joslyn Young for bringing together business, education, and community leaders for such meaningful discussions.
