Food insecurity is not just a social issue — it’s a workplace issue. New research from the National Payroll Institute’s Cost of Hunger for Working Canadians Survey reveals that having a job is no longer enough to keep hunger at bay. With one in four working Canadians experiencing food insecurity, the impacts are reaching far beyond the dinner table — affecting workers’ health, well-being and productivity across the country. Employees with fluctuating income are most at risk, reinforcing the importance of predictable, accurate pay. Read the full press release: https://lnkd.in/dCT_EwfQ

About us
The National Payroll Institute has been representing employers’ payroll interests since 1978, through its mission of Payroll Compliance through Education and Advocacy and its values of Community, Professionalism and Authoritative Knowledge. Professional payroll administration is mission-critical because of the magnitude of the remuneration by employers and the breadth of the legislative compliance requirements. Canada's 1.5 million employers count on payroll professionals to annually pay $1.06 trillion in wages and taxable benefits, $364 billion in federal and provincial statutory remittances, and $180 billion in health and retirement benefits, all while complying with over 200 regulatory requirements. As the authoritative source of Canadian payroll knowledge, the Institute influences the operational, compliance and technology policies and processes of payroll service bureaus, software providers, hundreds of thousands of small, medium and large employers, as well as federal and provincial tax authorities. The Institute advocates on behalf of employers to federal and provincial governments, proactively influencing payroll-related legislation to enable all stakeholders to administer them in an efficient and effective manner. As the source of payroll education and advocacy, the Institute delivers certification, professional development programs, and products and services that enable payroll practitioners to enhance operations, meet new legislative requirements and utilize emerging technologies.

National Payroll Institute reposted this
Payroll leadership has evolved. What was once viewed as a purely operational function is now a strategic cornerstone of organizational decision-making. Today, payroll leaders need far more than technical compliance expertise. They must combine AI literacy with human empathy, while guiding teams through constant change. Relationship building, critical thinking, agility, conflict management, and motivation are essential competencies — and, without a doubt, leadership capabilities. At the National Payroll Institute, we recognize payroll as one of the most critical business functions in any organization. When payroll leadership is strong, trust is reinforced, compliance is strengthened, and employees are paid accurately and on time. When it isn’t, employee confidence and organizational reputation can quickly erode. That’s why we’ve evolved the Payroll Leadership Professional (PLP) designation. For payroll professionals, the PLP provides a clear pathway to leadership and taking the next step in their career — building advanced strategic, analytical, and communication skills on top of technical mastery. Now is the time to explore leveling up to a PLP designation. For business leaders, payroll is too essential a function to be led without formal leadership training. Ensuring that a Payroll Leadership Professional is leading your payroll team is an investment in the health of your business and maintaining the trust of employees. Now is the time to invest in the PLP designation. https://lnkd.in/eMq-zc5A
