Nearly 20 years later, his journey—from Warehouse Associate to Health & Safety Supervisor—reflects what happens when opportunity, values, and people align. In February, lululemon attended the Global Mental Health Advocacy Forum hosted by United for Global Mental Health, a lululemon Gives partner since 2022. The three-day forum, organized by the Global Mental Health Action Network, is the largest gathering of mental health advocates and experts from over 170 countries, covering a range of issues from tackling stigma and discrimination to the future of global mental health. The event spotlighted grassroots leaders, elevated lived experiences, and supported collective action to advance mental health globally. lululemon’s presence throughout the forum centred around movement and mental health. Betty Kong, lululemon Ambassador, led three yoga and movement sessions for participants. Additionally, Olympian and mental health advocate Yvette Kong, OLY, a member of lululemon’s Global Mental Wellbeing Advisory Board and founding board member of Mind HK, co‑chaired the closing panel focused on youth mental health. Reflecting on the forum, Yvette shared that what stood out most was “the power of community advocates being in real dialogue with global institutions like the World Health Organization and UNICEF—because mental health progress accelerates when lived experience shapes policy and action.” This event underscored the power of collective action to shape more inclusive, youth-led mental health systems worldwide.
