    It was a pleasure to take part in Thursday’s panel at Rotman Commerce, University of Toronto, discussing market research, the insights industry, and the many career paths available to students interested in this space. I’m grateful to the Canadian Research Insights Council (CRIC) for its continued commitment to connecting our industry with the next generation of talent, and to Rotman Commerce at the University of Toronto for creating opportunities like this for students to engage directly with industry leaders. Special thanks to Danielle Kimmerly from Rotman for organizing the event, and to student moderator Selin Kose, who did a terrific job leading the conversation. I was pleased to share the panel with Scott Megginson of Kantar and Carla Flamer of Ipsos in Canada. Bringing together different perspectives always makes for a stronger discussion, and I appreciated the chance to be part of it with such respected industry leaders. It was also great to have my colleague Rachel Tile from The Logit Group, Inc. participate in the post-panel breakout, where she connected directly with students and added meaningful perspective to many of the conversations. Most of all, thank you to the students for their strong engagement and thoughtful questions.   • As daily expenses continue to rise, most Canadians are still making saving a priority but there is a growing divide beneath the surface. Our latest joint study with Narrative Research about Canadian savings habits 2026 shows that while two thirds are contributing to savings accounts, only one third made RRSP contributions for the 2025 tax year. The gap becomes even more clear across income levels: • Just half of Canadians earning under $60K are saving regularly • Only 16% in that group contributed to an RRSP • Meanwhile, higher income households are saving and investing at much higher rates There is also a concern around financial resilience. Many Canadians simply do not have enough saved to weather a short term financial setback. The takeaway: saving is still a priority but long term financial security is becoming less evenly distributed.   • AI can screen 500 participants in 10 minutes or transcribe a 90-minute IDI before you finish your coffee. But it can't tell you why a caregiver paused before saying, "It's manageable." That pause changed everything in our rare blood cancer study. AI captured the words perfectly. The human moderator, freed from note-taking, caught the hesitation and asked the right follow-up question. It shifted the client's entire support strategy. Speed is table stakes.
