When a critical part fails and the manufacturer has no replacement, the usual options run out fast. A local client's custom door pins had worn and broken from years of use with no supplier able to provide replacements. We scanned the most intact surviving original, reverse engineered it, and 3D printed two replacement pins in titanium. For a part this size, the cost difference vs stainless steel is negligible, yet titanium offers significantly better strength and corrosion resistance. The more important outcome is the permanent digital file. When the client needs another pin, there is no scanning session, no redesign, no starting over. The digital record is what keeps paying forward. Reverse engineering paired with metal 3D printing is how facilities build a digital spare parts inventory, one critical component at a time. 🔧 Managing equipment with no longer available components? 📐 Explore what reverse engineering can do for your operation at https://3dimensional.ca/ #JAWz3D #ReverseEngineering #3DPrinting #Manufacturing #Engineering

Watch what non-contact 3D scanning actually looks like in a heritage preservation context. Artifacts that are actively degrading can't survive repeated handling. Our Artec 3D scanners capture every surface detail without contact, producing a complete digital twin that preserves the object's current condition permanently. That digital record becomes accessible to researchers worldwide, serves as insurance against fire, theft, or further deterioration, and enables study that would otherwise require in-person access to a fragile original. Museums are digitizing entire collections for exactly this reason. The object keeps aging. The data doesn't. 🔧 Working with artifacts or collections that need non-contact documentation? 📐 Learn more at https://3dimensional.ca/ #JAWz3D #3DScanning #DigitalTwin #HeritagePreservation #Archaeology

The part is listed as no longer available. It hasn't been in production for decades. The original is sitting on your bench, worn but intact. That original is all we need. We scan millions of data points across the part's shape using our Artec 3D scanners: curves, surface transitions, the proportions that defined that era of design. Nothing is guessed or approximated. The scan data becomes the foundation for a reverse-engineered CAD model, built from scratch with the design intent of the original preserved. For serious restoration shops and collectors, this matters. Replacing a hood ornament with something close isn't the same as replacing it with something correct. The difference lives in the geometry. If you replace everything with approximations, you've lost something. We reverse engineer to keep what made the original right. 🔧 Working on a classic that needs a part no one makes anymore? 📐 Explore what's possible at https://3dimensional.ca/ #JAWz3D #ReverseEngineering #ClassicCarRestoration #ScanToCAD

Got to spend some time scanning this 2026 Suzuki DRZ4S for the team over at Outback Motortek. The goal here is simple. When you want custom parts that actually fit, you start with accurate data. We scanned the full bike so their team can design around real geometry instead of guessing. No test fits, no surprises, no wasted material. This is exactly what 3D scanning is for. Thanks to Outback Motortek for bringing us in on this one! #JAWz3D #OutbackMotortek #3DScanning #SuzukiDRZ4S #customparts #motocustom #adventuremotorcycle #3dprinting #reverseengineering

Most engineers know what 3D scanning is, but fewer understand what comes after, and that gap is where projects stall. The scan-to-part pipeline has five distinct stages: capture, mesh processing, reverse engineering into parametric CAD, manufacturing, and quality inspection. Each stage has its own requirements and failure points. A raw scan mesh isn't CAD-ready. A CAD model without an inspection step is an assumption. And skipping reverse engineering means you're working from geometry you can't modify. Understanding the full workflow is what makes the difference between a smooth first engagement and a project that resets halfway through. At JAWz 3D, we handle the complete pipeline, from the first scan pass to the final colour-coded inspection report. 🔧 Working on a part where you need the full loop handled? 📐 Let's talk at https://3dimensional.ca/ #JAWz3D #ReverseEngineering #3DScanning #ScanToCAD #Engineering

Most manufacturers know single-source dependency is a risk. Few act on it until the supplier disappears. When that call comes and the vendor is closing, acquired, or simply unreachable, you discover that the only record of that critical component's geometry was in their files. Not yours. 3D scanning and reverse engineering exists precisely for this scenario. We capture full dimensional data from the physical part, reconstruct it as a production-ready CAD model, and return design ownership to where it belongs: with the manufacturer. With that model in hand, you can qualify alternative suppliers, enable local fabrication, and build a digital archive that makes the next disruption manageable rather than catastrophic. With reshoring pressure rising and supply chains still fragile, owning your geometry is no longer optional. It's operational infrastructure. 🔧 Does your team have a documented plan for critical single-source components? 📐 Start the conversation at https://3dimensional.ca/ #JAWz3D #ReverseEngineering #SupplyChain #Engineering #Manufacturing

The gap between a great idea and a manufacturable product is wider than most people expect, but the first physical prototype changes everything. When inventors and product developers bring concepts to JAWz 3D, they walk away with a tangible part in days, not weeks, and without tooling costs. That first print exposes design flaws before they become expensive manufacturing problems. It communicates the concept more effectively than any CAD file or render ever could, and it opens the door to rapid iteration. For anyone serious about getting a product to market, the ability to hold it, test it, and refine it quickly is a genuine competitive advantage. 🔧 Working on a product concept that needs a physical proof of concept? 📐 Learn more at https://3dimensional.ca/ #JAWz3D #RapidPrototyping #ProductDevelopment #Engineering

Most product concepts never make it to production, and it usually isn't the idea that fails. It's the gap between having a design and having a manufacturable design. A model that looks right in a viewer isn't the same as a parametric solid model a manufacturer can work with. Different production processes, whether machined, injection molded, or 3D printed, require fundamentally different design decisions baked in from the start. At JAWz 3D, we build feature-based, editable solid models with manufacturing intent built in. That means geometry that accounts for tolerances, material behavior, and process constraints. It means files your manufacturer, your engineer, and your patent attorney can all actually use. If your product is stuck at the concept stage, the missing piece might not be more iterations. It might be the right CAD foundation. 🔧 Working on a product that needs to move from concept to production-ready? 📐 Learn more at https://3dimensional.ca/ #JAWz3D #CADModeling #CADDesign #Engineering #Manufacturing

When a part has complex curved surfaces and intricate external contours, documenting it thoroughly during inspection is genuinely difficult. The more detailed the geometry, the harder it is to confirm the part matches its original design intent. We use structured light 3D scanning to capture millions of measurement points across the external geometry. That scan data is aligned against the original CAD model, and the output is a color-coded inspection report showing areas of surface deviation, excess material, and dimensional variation, pinpointed directly on the part. The process is non-contact, so it doesn't mark or alter the part. Our equipment is portable, which means we can come to your facility and scan on-site. If you manufacture or source complex precision parts, this is a thorough and efficient way to validate them. 🔧 Have parts with complex geometry that need thorough inspection? 📐 Learn more at https://3dimensional.ca/ #JAWz3D #QualityAssurance #DimensionalInspection #Metrology #Manufacturing

Choosing the wrong 3D printing technology doesn't just affect quality, it delays your timeline and adds rework you didn't budget for. FDM is the go-to for fast, functional parts when speed is the priority. SLA steps in when surface finish and dimensional accuracy are non-negotiable. And when the part needs to survive real operating conditions, SLS produces strong, durable components ready for demanding environments. Most shops specialize in one. At JAWz 3D, we offer all three, so your project gets the right process from the start. 🔧 Need help selecting the right printing technology for your application? 📐 Connect with our team at https://3dimensional.ca/ #JAWz3D #3DPrinting #AdditiveManufacturing #RapidPrototyping #Engineering
