  • 🎤 Why does our CEO, Jenn Scott, golf? From her position as Volunteer Manager, to Housing Director, and now CEO, Jenn has seen and believed in the impact that Friendship Golf has on the Waterloo Region. “Every year I’m reminded that community changes lives. Friendship Golf is people showing up for their neighbours and playing for a cause that truly makes a difference. The shared conviction that no one should face their hardest days alone is inspiring and it is what ShelterCare is based on. House of Friendship doesn't just provide shelter; we walk alongside people through some of life's most difficult moments. Being part of that mission, even in a small way, is a privilege.” Join Jenn on July 8. 👉 Register today: https://lnkd.in/eNUQWKSq

  • What does it mean to build a village? Why do I need a village? How do I create a village? At House of Friendship, we believe that a village and a community are crucial pieces to forming a sustainable path out of homelessness. That’s why we are creating Friendship Village, a hub of resources, wrap around supports, and deeply affordable rent so those experiencing chronic homelessness can connect to the community and build their own village. • Eid al-Adha is often referred to as the Festival of Sacrifice, and is one of the most significant holidays in Islam. It is a time of reflection, generosity, and community, marking a period of prayer, gratitude, and sharing with others, particularly through acts of giving and care for those in need. To all who are celebrating, we hope this time brings you peace, connection, and meaningful moments with family and community.

  • We are shining a spotlight the Herrle family! We are so grateful for their incredible generosity. The Herrles are a family rooted in community: for five generations, their family has farmed the same land and shared with their community. This deep belief in caring for their neighbours is exactly what our upcoming Strawberry Social is all about; “Building a Village - A Community That Lasts” 🍓 In that same spirit, the Herrles have generously donated fresh strawberries from their farm to help make our event extra special - because for them, supporting the community has always been personal. They have chosen to leave a gift in their Will to House of Friendship, ensuring that their legacy of building up the people around them will carry on for generations to come. Thank you, Michelle and James, you are living proof that a strong village is built one act of generosity at a time. Register for our Strawberry Social today! https://lnkd.in/ejHNcRYF
