💜🌠LOVE LOVE LOVE this teaser concept by Quentin Rigaux!!... the vintage feel, the references, the enthralling score ... But what stood out the most was the use of color values to lead the eye. Our eyes are drawn to brightness, especially when it's surrounded by the dark, so Quentin can decide exactly where we should look by crafting the values to highlight what's most important in each shot. This enforces a visual flow and guides the narrative the audience receives to make sure nothing important is lost. We can always go back and intentionally admire the artistry in the darker corners of the screen on a second viewing! 🎻 Love this shot from Gobelins' Niccolo! 🎞️ We already did a video on animating transformations, but I just had to take another look at the topic when I saw these shots . . . * Note on the Anticipation: Even though wind is sporadic and doesn't abide by the same physical constraints that an organic body does (we anticipate our movements for a very specific physics-related reason), I do believe the animator used the leftward movement of the cape to give a pseudo-anticipation to the movement to use the contrast to give more emphasis to the swish that follows. Whether this was an intended choice or just a consequence of the movement by chance, it still feels very satisfying to watch in a way that's worth calling out.💖 (But I do think it was a choice!) 🎨 Shout out to the beautiful color change from the vibrant golden to uneasy green!
