As always, it was wonderful to meet the Chief Operating Officers of Integrated Partner Associations from coast to coast in beautiful Halifax. The annual meet up helped us to connect topics with the focus on industry issues, advocacy, and member needs to evolve AI landscape and its impact on the associations and members. We also discussed emerging industry needs and shared best practices. And of course, we also had fun with a fantastic home-grown Jeopardy with host Chris Atchison who took the trouble to prepare even for double jeopardy! A huge thank you to SICA | Southern Interior Construction Association for hosting two engaging Gold Seal Certification sessions this week: one focused on helping employers integrate Gold Seal into their HR and talent development strategies, and another for employees interested in pursuing their certification. A special thank you as well to our guest speaker, Jesse Cubberley, P.GSC, LEED GA, for sharing his Gold Seal journey from GSC to P.GSC, the value of certification, the impact it has had throughout his career and how it has supported his growth as a leader. It was great to see such strong engagement and meaningful discussion around professional development, and striving for excellence in construction management. We’re proud to partner with SICA, and all of our partner associations, to support training opportunities and help advance the construction industry through ongoing education and certification. Great insights from the recent presentation by CPPC and DCC on upcoming projects and evolving delivery strategies. As the pipeline of capital projects continues to grow, it was particularly valuable to hear how teams are thinking about collaborative contracting models to improve outcomes, manage risk, and enhance certainty. A key highlight was the increasing use of: CCDC 32 – Progressive Design-Build (PDB) CCDC 30 – Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) These models reflect a clear shift toward early contractor involvement, shared risk/reward, and stronger alignment across project partners—critical elements for navigating complexity in today’s construction environment. The discussion reinforced the importance of: ✅ Building trust early in the project lifecycle ✅ Leveraging transparency in cost development ✅ Driving innovation through collaboration ✅ Improving schedule and cost predictability Looking forward to seeing how these approaches continue to shape the delivery of major public sector projects.
