We were pleased to welcome leaders from Ontario Health | Santé Ontario to CAMH this week for a day of discussion, learning and collaboration focused on improving #mentalhealth and #addictions care across #Ontario. Our President and CEO, Sarah Downey, welcomed the delegation, including Judy Linton, Chief Nursing Executive and Dr. Chris Simpson, Chief Medical Executive at Ontario Health. Throughout the visit, our clinical leaders shared how we are working to improve access to care and support patients. Highlights included: 🧠 Visiting the Temerty Centre for Therapeutic Brain Intervention, where Dr. Daniel Blumberger shared how rTMS is being used to support people living with treatment-resistant depression 💚 Touring an inpatient care unit to learn more about the patient care environment at CAMH 🗣️ Conversations with clinical leaders focused on emergency mental health care, schizophrenia care, seniors care, housing, and recovery-oriented care We are grateful for the continued partnership between CAMH and Ontario Health as we work together to strengthen access to mental health and addictions care for Ontarians. Staff at CAMH and The Neighbourhood Group recently celebrated the one-year anniversary of The Next Chapter, a Health Canada funded partnership that provides peer support and multidisciplinary treatment for people transitioning from hospital to community after receiving treatment for substance use disorder. Through this collaboration, The Next Chapter has supported over 95 clients who have successfully transitioned into community living, after receiving this wrap-around care for 35-40 days following discharge. Led by Gifts of Light and Shkaabe Makwa, CAMH clients were invited to experience Planetarium: Under One Sky. The event began with a Star Teaching from Shkaabe Makwa, followed by an immersive journey through the stars with Astronomy in Action. The experience created a beautiful opportunity for reflection, connection, and shared experience under one sky. Funded by generous donations, this experience provides a unique opportunity for patients through Gifts of Light. #GiftsofLight #Planetarium

For these professionals, dealing with trauma is an everyday occurrence, which can also have a significant impact on their own mental health.
