AI adoption is accelerating. Accountability isn’t. 83% of organizations use AI, but only 13% have visibility into how it operates. That’s not an innovation gap. It’s a governance gap. Courts have already made it clear: If your brand is on the interface, you own the output. It means: ➡️ Testing for real-world impact ➡️ Building traceability into systems ➡️ Defining ownership before deployment ➡️ Designing guardrails, not just models The advantage won’t go to the fastest adopters. It will go to the organizations that can scale AI responsibly — and prove it. We break down what RAI actually looks like in practice in our latest Insights post. 👉 Read more: https://lnkd.in/gUDb_2Kt How is your organization operationalizing RAI? #ResponsibleAI #AIGovernance #EnterpriseAI #RAI #AIforGood

The Future is Agentic
About us
Most organizations don’t need more AI pilots. They need results. AltaML builds agentic AI solutions that move beyond dashboards and experiments — intelligent systems that take action, adapt over time, and drive measurable business outcomes. We partner with organizations to identify high-impact opportunities and deploy AI where it matters most: improving performance, strengthening decision-making, reducing risk, and unlocking sources of value. Powered by AltaForge, our proprietary AI agent engine, our solutions combine reusable AI agents with built-in governance, observability, and control. The result is scalable, auditable, enterprise-grade AI that works in production — not just in theory. From strategy through deployment and ongoing optimization, we deliver end-to-end support, enabling faster, sustained value realization. We believe AI should elevate human potential, not complicate it. Our approach enables teams to focus on higher-value work while intelligent systems handle the rest. Headquartered in Edmonton, with offices in Calgary, Toronto, and Waterloo, AltaML helps organizations turn AI ambition into impact.

AI is shaping the future of work — and students want to be part of building it. Last week, AltaML sponsored and attended the Rocky Mountain Business Seminar (RMBS), Canada’s longest-running student-run business conference in Lake Louise, Alberta. Our team members, Michael Chien and Erika Navarra, led a session on Designing Human-in-the-Loop Systems for the Future of Work and connected with student delegates at the career fair. Here’s what stood out most in our conversations: ▶️ Students are eager to understand how AI will shape their careers ▶️ There’s no single path to becoming “AI-ready” — and that’s okay ▶️ Topics like AI and agentic systems are gaining traction, with strong interest in deeper integration into learning The biggest takeaway? Students don’t want to sit on the sidelines of the AI era. They want to help shape it — thoughtfully and responsibly. That’s exactly the kind of future we’re proud to support! Thank you to RMBS for creating space for meaningful dialogue between students, academia, and industry. If you were at RMBS, what conversation stuck with you most? #FutureOfWork #ArtificialIntelligence #AILeadership #StudentLeadership #AcademiaandAI

Our team is back from a productive week in Ottawa! Chantal Ritcey, Raeann Newell, and Paul Longo were glad to spend time with leaders from the Canada School of Public Service | École de la fonction publique du Canada and to meet with Minister Heath McDonald to discuss what it takes to move from AI ambition to real, trusted impact in the public sector. Across meetings and workshops held with leaders across the Government of Canada, one theme came up again and again: the importance of responsible AI as a foundation for progress. Not as an abstract principle, but as a practical way to build trust quickly: by being transparent about how AI systems work, how decisions are made, and how risks are managed from day one. These conversations reinforced a shared view that governments can deploy AI at speed and earn public trust, so long as responsibility, governance, and human oversight are designed in from the start. Thank you to CSPS and everyone who took the time to engage so openly. We’re encouraged by the momentum we’re seeing and look forward to continuing the work alongside public sector partners. #AppliedAI #PublicSector #ResponsibleAI #TrustInAI #DigitalGovernment #AltaML

The term “agentic AI” is showing up in strategy decks, board meetings, sales decks, and vendor pitches alike. But without a clear understanding of what it actually means, it can be hard to know what’s real and what’s marketing hyperbole. In our latest Insights post, AltaML CEO Cory Janssen breaks down the core behaviors that define agentic systems and what leaders should be looking for as they plan their AI roadmap. The article explores: 🔹 What makes an AI system “agentic” in practice 🔹 How agents fit into real workflows and teams 🔹 Where agentic AI delivers value today, and where expectations need to be tempered If you’re sorting through the noise and looking for a practical definition grounded in real-world application, this is a good place to start. Are universities prepared for an AI future they didn’t design? That’s the question at the centre of the upcoming AI and innovation plenary panel at Re: University, a national gathering of senior university leaders on the future of higher education in Canada, hosted by Higher Education Strategy Associates. Our CCO, Duncan Mundell, is looking forward to joining the discussion on how AI is reshaping learning and assessment, academic integrity, student support, accessibility, and the overall student experience—and what it will take to ensure students benefit from these tools rather than being disadvantaged by uneven adoption or unclear policy. The panel brings together a strong group of voices, including: 🔹 Jake Hirsch-Allen of The Dias at Toronto Metropolitan University 🔹 Dr. Elka Walsh of Microsoft 🔹 Colin Lumsden of SparkEducation Expect a candid conversation about where AI feels like a clear opportunity in higher education, where it’s proving more complex, and how ideas are (or aren’t) translating into institutional practice. If you’re attending Re: University, we hope to see you there! #AppliedAI #HigherEducation #AIinEducation #DigitalTransformation #ResponsibleAI #AltaML

At AltaML, we’re particularly proud of our work applying AI to help advance natural disaster preparedness and emergency response across Canada. So it was a pleasure for Chantal Ritcey and Raeann Newell to join Infonex Inc. at this year’s Emergency Management and BCP Summit, where they shared lessons learned from our work with the Government of Alberta and other partners. Their session, “AI as a First Responder: Revolutionizing Incident Response,” explored how AI can: 🔹 Analyze multimodal data to accelerate damage assessment 🔹 Automate incident triage and prioritize response efforts 🔹 Optimize resource deployment and anticipate secondary risks 🔹 Support responsible, transparent decision-making to build public trust The Q&A discussion that followed focused on how to apply AI across simple, more complicated, and highly complex situations. A key takeaway was that effective incident-response AI starts by decomposing large, complex systems into smaller, solvable components, then scaling insight back up. Thanks to the attendees for their thoughtful questions and engagement. And most importantly, thank you to the first responders working bravely and tirelessly to safeguard Canadians. #AppliedAI #AgenticAI #EmergencyManagement #BCP #PublicSector #ResponsibleAI #AltaML

The GenAI paradox: Unprecedented experimentation, but limited sustained impact. Last summer, we published The AI Agent Advantage: Understanding Your Digital Workforce, exploring how AI agents can help organizations move beyond pilots and demos toward systems that actually own work inside real workflows. As more leaders grapple with how to operationalize AI responsibly, the ideas in this piece feel increasingly relevant—especially the shift from prompt-based tools to agentic systems designed around outcomes, accountability, and integration with how teams already work. If you’re thinking about how to turn GenAI investment into durable value, this is a useful place to start.
