The Buffalo Bills have started signing players to the practice squad for the 2026 season. 14 of the 17 players Buffalo signed Monday were with the team during training camp and preseason. The three newcomers to the team are WR Greg Dortch, LB Shaq Thompson and T Jedrick Wills Jr.

Greg Dortch | WR

Dortch is a wide receiver and return specialist who was with the Detroit Lions during training camp and previously played for the Arizona Cardinals (2021-25). The speedy pass catcher has appeared in 68 career games, making 145 receptions for 1,310 yards and 10 touchdowns.

As a returner, Dortch has a 8.9-yard career average for punt returns and a 23.6-yard average for kick returns. The addition of Dortch also reunites him with Bills special teams coach Jeff Rodgers and wide receivers coach Drew Terrel.

Dortch set career-best marks in yards per punt return (11.6) in 2025 and yards per kick return in 2024 (26.6). He was born in Rochester, NY and played collegiately at Wake Forest.

Jedrick Wills Jr. | OT

Former 2020 No. 10 pick Jedrick Wills Jr. joins the Bills' practice squad after spending training camp with the Chicago Bears. The 27-year-old sat out the 2025 season rehabbing an injury, fighting for a roster spot in Chicago before being released by the Bears on Sunday.

Throughout his five seasons with the Cleveland Browns to begin his career, Wills Jr. started in 57 of 58 regular-season appearances. The Browns exercised the fifth-year option on his rookie contract for the 2024 season, before hitting free agency at the end of the year.

Wills Jr. was in contention for the team's starting left tackle job, coming up short in the end. Despite not making a 53-man roster, flashes of the former blue-chip prospect have remained, hoping that a change of scenery and a year of rehabilitation can help spark a career resurgence.

Shaq Thompson | LB

After appearing in 14 total games for the Bills in 2025, Shaq Thompson makes his return to Buffalo, this time on the practice squad. The 32-year-old proved that he still had gas left in the tank last season, finishing the year with 56 total regular-season tackles, good for seventh on the team.

Thompson also tallied a sack and a forced fumble in 2025. The veteran turned it up another notch for Buffalo during the playoffs, intercepting a pass against the Jacksonville Jaguars in the AFC Wild Card Round, while leading the team in total tackles with eight. He added two tackles for loss in the Divisional Round against the Denver Broncos to end the year.

Despite a scheme change under defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard, having a familiar leader in the locker room should pay dividends for a young Bills defense this year. Thompson is entering his 12th season at the NFL level, looking to continue being a productive asset at the linebacker position.
