It allows attackers to secretly create special access keys (called API tokens) that give them full control over the server — even without needing a password afterward. Recently, I built a lightweight macOS EDR prototype that simulates real-world endpoint telemetry, including: • Process execution • Network port activity • File system monitoring The project leverages native macOS tooling (zsh + launchd) and focuses on structured logging and detection use cases. Radoslav Panev shared thisAI security reality check: you don’t need prompt injection to get compromised The recent LiteLLM incident highlights something most teams are missing — everyone is focused on prompt injection, but the real risk is far more basic. What actually happened: • A malicious package was published to PyPI (litellm 1.82.7/1.82.8) • A tool (uvx) auto-installed it as a dependency • It contained a .pth file executed on every Python startup • Result: exfiltration of SSH keys, cloud credentials, and Kubernetes access No prompt injection. No jailbreaks. Just a classic supply chain attack. The real issue: The AI tooling ecosystem is introducing new attack surface — but with old vulnerabilities: • unpinned dependencies • auto-install tooling (uvx, npx) • blind trust in open-source packages Reality check: A large percentage of dependencies can be swapped with compromised versions. This isn’t an AI problem. It’s a DevOps and security hygiene problem. ⸻ What to do: • Always pin dependency versions • Use allowlists for packages • Isolate execution environments (containers ≠ security by default) • Treat AI tooling as privileged code, not sandboxed utilities ⸻ Bottom line: While everyone debates prompt injection, attackers are winning with pip install. AI doesn’t change the fundamentals of security. Radoslav Panev liked thisRadoslav Panev liked thisDon't listen to AI experts. (Yes, including this post.) The AI discourse is getting loud. On one side: billions being poured in, board-level mandates, everyone racing to adopt. On the other: first movers quietly walking it back, ROI questions nobody can answer cleanly. Meanwhile the experts are busy arguing about which side is right we ignored both. Instead we asked one question: where does AI actually add value for our users? Not "how do we use AI" — that's the wrong starting point. Not "should we use AI" — also the wrong question. Just: where does it make something genuinely better? That lens led us to embed AI into the core of our product — surfacing relevant data to users at the right moment. Not because AI is trendy. Because in that specific context, it works. The macro debate — spend more, spend less, hype, doom — is mostly noise if you haven't answered that question for your own context first. So my actual advice is: Think. Experiment. Do. And don't take that from me either.

Radoslav Panev liked thisRadoslav Panev liked thisOne of the worst pieces of advice I keep seeing online is: “Don’t tell people what you’re working on—let your success speak for itself.” And like most advice that spreads like wildfire, it starts with a tiny bit of truth… and then gets completely twisted into something borderline useless. Yes—don’t go around announcing you’re “getting into animation” when what you’ve actually done is think about it, buy a book, and spend 2 hours clicking around in a 3D program. (If that sounds oddly specific, I will not be taking questions at this time. Learn from my mistakes.) But swinging all the way in the other direction and saying nothing? That’s just as bad. You absolutely should talk about the things you’re actually putting time and effort into. Not the “idea phase”, not the “this could be cool someday” phase—but the real work. Because here’s the thing—opportunities don’t magically appear out of nowhere. They usually come from other people. And those people need to know what you’re doing. Also, if you listen carefully to successful people, they almost never say “I”. It’s always “we”. Not because they’re super humble (let’s not get carried away), but because most success is a group effort. It’s people helping each other, building stuff together, and pushing in the same direction. So yeah—don’t brag about imaginary progress. But don’t go full underground mode either.
