For the past few months, we've had this fantastic trio working on our projects for the #cosmetics industry.     🐚 Thanasis Bouzoukas & bio-circular calcium carbonate  Calcium carbonate, an ingredient widely used in cosmetics, is currently mainly sourced through environmentally damaging mining. Thanasis is developing a process to obtain this material from discarded seashells generated by the seafood industry, transforming this waste into purified cosmetic-grade particles with tailored size and shape.     ⚗️ Brianna Woolery & optimization of pale lignin production  Our signature pale lignin is attracting strong interest from the cosmetics industry. The next step towards producing it at scale is to establish how each step in our extraction protocol shapes the final product. Through her work, Brianna is helping us fine-tune the process and build a deeper understanding of the factors driving material consistency.     ☀️ Marthe Wittevrongel & natural antioxidants for sunscreen  Natural antioxidants offer exciting potential for more sustainable sunscreen formulations, but proving their effectiveness is key. Marthe identified and evaluated promising compounds using advanced antioxidant characterization methods and is now validating their performance directly in cosmetic formulations. Can you be tired and energised at the same time?   Well, that's how our entire team felt after attending the recent in-cosmetics Global event in Paris.      𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘂𝘀?  Not the shift towards bio-circular solutions in the cosmetics industry. ITS SCALE.      The number of bio-based companies, and the wealth and diversity of ingredients on display... remarkable!      And we felt that momentum in our booth, too -   ☀️ Our first prototype, LCC‑based sunscreen, received consistently positive feedback:   "Great texture," "Feels really smooth," "Soft touch", “surprising neutral colour”...that, coming from formulators and buyers who test hundreds of samples a year. 🔬 We also received strong signals for our natural chemistry services: there’s a growing demand for claims substantiation grounded in solid, scientific evidence.       Overall, In-Cosmetics confirmed for us that we're on the right track with our timing, offer, and approach.      Richer in new, valuable contacts, collaboration opportunities, and our minds exhausted but buzzing with new information and ideas, we came back to our home base in Belgium, to continue our work towards 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗯𝗶𝗴 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲 – 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘂𝘀 𝗟𝗮𝗯𝘀 𝗽𝗶𝗹𝗼𝘁 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁.     With its operations starting later this year, we’ll take an essential step towards scaling what we’ve been building.   And we already look forward to appearing at In-Cosmetics next year with an even stronger bio-circular upcycling offer!      Thanks to everyone who visited our booth.   See you next year in Barcelona 👋  Yves Boonen | Kevin Huvaere | Frank Eertmans | Jasper Bloemen | Emmanuel Dury | Nora Thüringer | Joëlle Stockman   ---  We have a #NaturalChemistry.     #Bioeconomy #SustainableInnovation #GreenChemistry #BioCircular #Cosmetics
