In the new research issue of Global Focus Magazine, IMD Leadership and Governance Professor Anand Narasimhan offers an academic reflection on wellbeing in business schools, grounded in personal experience of burnout, depression, medical risk, and mindfulness training. He contrasts collegial fulfilment with exhaustion, anxiety, and rumination shaped by institutional pressures and leadership responsibilities. He describes how training in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy reframes experiences of suffering and strengthens self-awareness, with subsequent application in teaching and organisational practice. 🇪🇺 European companies are reassessing DEI policies amid US pressure to comply with changing standards. While some organisations have reduced initiatives, research suggests that genuine progress on diversity improves employee experience and business performance, whereas superficial commitments risk distrust and disengagement. The debate has prompted calls for DEI to be embedded within corporate strategy rather than treated as a compliance exercise or imported trend. 🇮🇹 Last week at the 2026 EFMD Conference for Quality, Impact and Accreditation Professionals in Milan, business school executives and administrators gathered to discuss how quality management can support institutional improvement and change. 🌟 Across three days, the programme combined interactive sessions, keynotes, and practitioner-led exchanges focused on accreditation beyond compliance. Discussions examined quality management as a strategic instrument for change, shifting expectations within accreditation frameworks, and implications for reporting and impact. 🌟 Further sessions considered how institutions communicate the value of accreditation internally, focusing on stakeholder engagement and organisational alignment, as well as the use of AI in business school strategy and accreditation processes, with practical applications in quality assurance. 🌟 Accreditation remains central to business schools, supporting quality, visibility, and international recognition.
