    Real gains for Queensland’s energy system.⚡ What if we could unlock more electricity from Queensland’s existing transmission network — safely and reliably? That’s exactly what Powerlink Queensland Dynamic Line Rating trial is demonstrating. 6 months into a 12 month trial across the Sunshine Coast and Central Queensland, real time sensors are using local weather data, including wind speed and air temperature, to determine how much electricity transmission lines can safely carry at any given moment. Early results are promising: ✅An average 17% potential capacity increase on the Palmwoods–Woolooga line ✅Up to 40% increases during favourable conditions This will mean more power flowing when homes and businesses need it most. With 8 weather stations and 22 line based sensors now installed, the trial highlights how smarter, data driven approaches can improve reliability, manage costs and support delivery of Queensland’s Energy Roadmap — without building new lines. #SmarterEnergy #QldEnergyRoadmap #PoweringQueensland

    Pour la première fois sur notre réseau, nous installons un capteur sur un câble de ligne aérienne sous tension par drone ⚡   Une innovation qui fait évoluer nos modalités d’intervention, sans déploiement de moyens lourds au sol. Dans le Limousin, nous expérimentons la pose par drone de capteurs Dynamic Line Rating (DLR).    En évaluant en temps réel la capacité de transit des lignes, ces dispositifs permettent d’optimiser l’exploitation du réseau existant et renforcent sa flexibilité en exploitant plus finement les marges disponibles.     One congested transmission line increased electricity costs by $60 million in a single year. The following year, with Dynamic Line Ratings (DLR): only $1.6 million. Cha-ching! PPL Electric Utilities achieved this milestone through the first market-integrated deployment of Dynamic Line Ratings (#DLR) in the United States. A traditional rebuild of the line would have cost $50 million and required an extended outage. PPL integrated the DLR system into its transmission management system to provide PJM Interconnection with hourly day-ahead ratings forecasts. This shift from conservative static ratings to real-time data ensures more efficient generation and higher reliability. The project earned PPL the 95th Edison Award from Edison Electric Institute in 2023. Grid Enhancing Technologies provide a proven, cost-effective way to maximize our existing infrastructure and deliver immediate benefits to customers. For many grid operators, sensorless Dynamic Line Rating provides an effective entry point. ✅ Fast to deploy, standard‑compliant and requiring no installation on the line, sensorless DLR (AAR) delivers a first level of insight into line behavior using external data.
