The Centre's goal is to meet the felt needs of the developing states and act as an institution for promoting integrated rural development (IRD) in the region. From the original six member-states, CIRDAP has now grown up as a Centre of 15 member countries. The CIRDAP member countries (CMCs) are: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Islamic Republic of Iran, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam. CIRDAP promotes regional cooperation, operating through designated contact ministries and link institutions in member-states and plays a supplementary and reinforcing role in supporting and furthering the effectiveness of IRD programmes in Asia and the Pacific.
The Rural Development Report 2015, thirteenth in the series of CIRDAP's bi-annual reports, deals with the theme of rural income and poverty and provides an assessment of the current status and outlook on rural income and poverty in Asia and the Pacific focusing on the CMCs. The Centre prepares these reports as part of its efforts to share knowledge and experience, promote regional cooperation, and support and further the effectiveness of IRD programmes in the Asia-Pacific region. -

A Regression Analysis of Ice Cream Consumption

Variables:

Period = The week of the study Consumption, Y= The ice-cream consumption (in pints per capita) Price, X1= The price of ice-cream (in dollars) Income, X2= The weekly family income (in dollars) Temp, X3= The mean temperature (in degrees F)
Here consumption Y is the dependent variable and X1, X2, and X3 being the independent variables.
Y= β0 + β1X1 + β2X2 + β3X3+ ε
= 0.19732 – 1.04441 X1 + 0.00331X2 + 0.00346X3 + ε
Here, Coefficient of Determination R2 = 0.719 and Adjusted R2 = 0.687
So 68.7% of the variation in Y is explained by the independent variables X1, X2 and X3 after taking into account sample size n and number of beta parameters. The strength of the relationship is moderately strong.
Conclusion:
The mean ice cream consumption (in pints per capita) changes insignificantly as the price of ice cream (in dollars) increases while the other two variables being constant.
The mean ice cream consumption (in pints per capita) increases as the weekly family income (in dollars) increases while the other two variables being constant.
The mean ice cream consumption (in pints per capita) increases as the mean temperature (in degrees F) increases while the other two variables being constant. -

Ice cream is a sweet flavored frozen food containing cream or butter and usually eggs. Ice cream sales grow by about 1% in value terms in 2009, to a total of $2.1 billion. Declining purchasing power and an ageing population are adversely affecting ice cream consumption in Canada. Canadians are buying less ice cream, however the increasing preference for premium products on the part of consumers who choose to indulge every now and then, has helped to support value sales. People enjoy it while watching TV, having dinner, or eating out. Yet, what are the key factors that affect the people consuming ice cream? This paper analyzes varies factors through linear regression, trying to find scientific meaningful module predicting the ice cream consumption. The data were collected from March 18, 1951 to July 11, 1953, total of 30 four-week periods. The potential variables are: price of the ice cream (Price), weekly family income of the consumers (Income), and the temperature (Temp). First, we created x-y plots to estimate the basic linear relationships between the dependent variable (Consumption) and above potential variables. Second, we performed regression analysis by PASW software. From different key value, such as s,R^2,F,t,p,and coefficients, we evaluated the fit of the module. Finally, we extended a complete second-order non-linear model and did detailed tests to reject some β_i, remaining a reduced linear module. Further, we utilized residual analysis and multicollinearity to examine the fitness of the module. Through the rejecting higher order portion and non-relevant variables, we finalize the module for a better fit.

The paper outlines the historical events that have led to the Quebec Sovereignty Movement since the 1960s. Nationalistic feelings in French Canadians in forming a nation of their own has its root in pre-industrial Quebec or New France when the inhabitants there adhered on becoming ‘Canadienne’ – a single, unique group of people living separately with their own identity. The movement and the referendum that followed in 1980 has made Canadians question the very basis of the Canadian society; it shook the foundation of the Canadian state with the very existence of the country being in question. Some might think that the Quebec independence movement lasted only a few decades, they are quite mistaken in understanding the history of Quebec nationalism. The roots of the movement went back to the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. It may have increased on certain era and abated in other times, but it came back again and again.

Merck & Co., Inc is a global research-driven company that discovers, develops, manufactures, and markets medicine. Established in the United States in 1891, Merck has become one of the largest pharmaceutical companies worldwide. Recently, however, Merck has been experiencing a plethora of financial and legal problems, such as; high costs, numerous law suits, and loss of patents. In 2004 the management team had no choice but to opt for a complete turn around of the company. Merck’s new CEO developed a restructuring plan that consisted of three crucial points; workforce reduction, making key alliances in order to license new products and to outsource R&D. Consolidating the organization’s alliances were supposed to become its core competencies. With the help of its partners and a successful ongoing change process, the company improved its supply chain, made the sale’s force more efficient, and concentrated on becoming the leader in producing prescription drugs.
In order to understand the functional problems of Merck, a complete diagnosis will be performed at organizational and individual levels. Furthermore, the entire change process will be evaluated in the framework of Lewin’s Planned Change Model. All the information will be analyzed and used to come up with an appropriate intervention plan. The strategy will consist of three essential points: HR process large groups’ intervention, techno structural downsizing and the HR management of employees stress. In conclusion some recommendations will be given on how to proceed after the implementation stage. Specifically, important aspects such as feedback and the institutionalization of changed culture will be discussed.
