Dr. Md Ekram Hossain, Executive Director of the Center for Research Innovation and Development (CRID), was invited to attend the 2025 Sichuan–South Asia and Southeast Asian Countries Business Development Cooperation Conference held in Sichuan from September 9 to 12 to advance Sichuan’s “southward expansion,” deepen economic and investment ties with South and Southeast Asia, and promote an open economy. Organized by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Sichuan, the event carried the theme “Together We Progress, Pursuing Common Prosperity: Building a New Pattern of Synergy in Industry and Supply Chains.” Distinguished participants included the Deputy Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development of Sri Lanka, the guest of honor; the Sri Lankan Ambassador to China; the Acting President of the SAARC Chamber of Commerce; and the Secretary-General of the China–ASEAN Center. More than 300 representatives from embassies, consulates, government agencies, business associations, enterprises, academics, and think tanks from 14 South and Southeast Asian countries took part. Bangladesh was represented by a 10-member delegation from the Bangladesh-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCCI) led by Administrator and Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce Nargis Murshida. The team included Bangladesh Consul General in Kunming Md Khaled; chamber members Asif Haque Rupu, Mona Haque, SM Kafil Uddin; and Dr. Md Ekram Hossain of CRID Bangladesh. Now in its 13th year, the Conference featured seminars, trade promotions, project signings, business negotiations, special exhibitions, and local inspections. These activities built consensus, generated business opportunities, and pushed cooperation beyond traditional sectors into the digital and green economies and interconnected industrial and supply chains. Meet our Key Speakers: Dr. Abdul Rauf Dr. Abdul Rauf is a Pakistani economist and finance scholar whose work links energy, environment and sustainable development. He is a High Talent Expert and Professor at the Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology (NUIST), China, and Module Leader and Visiting Instructor at the Reading Academy–NUIST, affiliated with the University of Reading, UK. He earned his PhD in Finance (Applied Economics) from Southeast University, Nanjing, in 2019, with a dissertation on the nexus between financial development, growth, energy use and environmental quality in Belt and Road economies. Since then his research has expanded to energy economics, carbon neutrality, sustainable tourism and the financial dimensions of climate change. Dr. Rauf has published over fifty papers in high-impact journals and conferences, many ranking in the top one percent of their fields with more than 3,000 citations. Fluent in English, Chinese, Urdu and Punjabi, he combines teaching, research and international collaboration to advance sustainable finance and policy. Meet our Key Speakers: Dr. Bassiouny Saleh Dr. Bassiouny Saleh is an Egyptian materials scientist and mechanical engineer specializing in high-temperature alloys, graded composites and sustainable manufacturing. He is an Associate Professor at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA), China, where he leads research on nickel-based superalloys, magnesium alloys, functionally graded materials and solid-waste reuse and recycling. He earned his PhD in Engineering Mechanics from Hohai University, Nanjing (2021, 91/100) after completing an MSc and BSc in Production/Materials Engineering at Alexandria University, Egypt, where he graduated 2nd in his class. Before joining NUAA he held consecutive postdoctoral fellowships at Hohai University and NUAA and earlier served as a graduate research and teaching assistant at Alexandria University. Dr. Saleh has published over 80 papers in international journals and conferences, with more than 3,350 citations and an h-index of 29. He has led or co-led six research projects funded by Chinese national foundations and international programs and is active in editorial and review work, including guest editing a Coatings special issue and serving on the editorial board of Journal of Materials Science: Materials in Engineering. His work advances sustainable high-performance materials for aerospace, energy and manufacturing applications. Meet our Key Speakers: Dr. Md Ekram Hossain Dr. Md Ekram Hossain is an academic and development professional with wide-ranging experience in teaching, research and consulting across Asia, North America and beyond. Executive Director and Senior Research Fellow at the Center for Research Innovation and Development (CRID), Dhaka, Bangladesh. He works at the intersection of international trade, climate change, circular economy and sustainable development. He has served as consultant to the Department of Environment, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Bangladesh, and the UN Food and Agriculture Organization FAO, leading policy and research initiatives. Previously a Postdoctoral Fellow and Research Faculty at Hohai University, China, he taught economics and management and advanced research on climate change and sustainable business practices. Author of over 30 international publications, Chief Editor of Circular Tribune, and Managing Editor of Journal of Innovation and Impact, Dr. Hossain brings global perspective, policy insight and academic rigor to sustainability and development. Meet our Key Speakers: Dr. Gazi Tawfiq Ezaz Dr. Gazi Tawfiq Ezaz is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Yellow River Research Institute, North China University of Water Resources and Electric Power, working under the guidance of Professor Junguo Liu. His research centers on the Water–Energy–Food (WEF) Nexus, with a particular focus on transboundary water security and sustainable resource management. Gazi Tawfiq holds a PhD in Hydrology and Water Resources and brings expertise in hydrological modeling, climate change impact assessment, and integrated water resources management. He has advanced skills in the SWAT model, Agent-Based Modeling, and R programming, which he uses to analyze complex hydrological systems and simulate climate-socioeconomic scenarios. With a strong foundation in interdisciplinary research, Gazi Tawfiq is committed to developing sustainable solutions to address global water resource challenges. Meet our Key Speakers: Mr. Jiang Wenjie  Mr. Jiang Wenjie is a Chinese entrepreneur and educator who serves as CEO of Nanjing Bright World Information Technology Co., Ltd. He is also an Innovation and Entrepreneurship Mentor at Hohai University Business School, Co-founder of the Global Youth Innovation Community, and a member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Youth Expert Think Tank. Since 2017, Mr. Jiang has focused on international cultural exchange and youth development. He co-designed innovative Chinese language learning courses and co-authored the textbook From Oracle Bones Inscriptions to the World of Chinese Language. Through the Global Youth Innovation Community and the International Academician and Expert Think Tank, he has supported more than 5,000 foreign youth in China, providing entrepreneurship training, career development guidance, and consulting services to local governments and enterprises.
