Spring arrived not just in nature, but within our workplace. 🌼 This Bashanta, our Woolworths Group Dhaka office transformed into a canvas of color, warmth, and heritage. Draped in vibrant attire, we reflected the very essence of Bashanta..renewal, harmony, and quiet optimism. The celebration was made even more meaningful with an array of traditional Pitha Puli, honoring Bangladesh’s rich culinary legacy. Each delicacy carried stories of tradition, community, and seasonal joy.. a reminder that heritage is best preserved when shared. Beyond festivities, the day reaffirmed something deeper: culture strengthens connection, and shared experiences enrich our professional community. Welcoming Spring together, with pride in our roots and purpose in our work. #BashantaUtshob #SpringAtWork #BangladeshiHeritage #WorkplaceCulture #WoolworthsGroup

An unforgettable and highly rewarding journey with Woolworths Group International! Over the past two weeks, I gained a deep understanding of global sourcing and the end-to-end New Product Development process, while working in a friendly and inclusive office in Hong Kong. I witnessed Woolworths’ rigorous product selection process from delivery to store, and had the chance to communicate with different teams to understand their roles, daily workflows, and identify inefficiencies that could be improved through AI. This culminated in a 15-minute presentation where we shared our findings on industry outlook, key pain points, the value of AI, strategic prototypes, financial projections, and an implementation roadmap. Special thanks to Matthew Lau for organising such a well-structured learning journey, which allowed us to quickly grasp operations across departments and continuously refine our ideas. His guidance and feedback helped me reflect on and improve the way I work. I’m also grateful to my team members Agnes Tjokrosetio, Martin Solorzano, Sansita V., Alexandre Milet for their support and encouragement - together, we made this experience truly memorable. The combination of the unique timing, location, and wonderful people made this journey unforgettable.
Innovation meets the next generation! 💡 We recently wrapped up an incredible collaboration with the Career Accelerator: AGSM & UNSW Business School here in Hong Kong. For two weeks, we hosted a cohort of bright minds who dove deep into our ecosystem to explore a critical question: How can AI be most efficiently utilized in Global Sourcing? The results were nothing short of impressive! The students didn't just learn from us; they challenged our internal frameworks and provided fresh insights that are already sparking new approaches to our AI integration strategy. Well done team - we can't wait to see what you achieve next! 🚀 🎓 The Team: Alexandre Milet, Martin Solorzano, Agnes Tjokrosetio, Sansita V., and Hexuan Wang. At Woolworths Group International, we believe that a robust talent pipeline is fueled by diverse, youthful perspectives. A huge thank you to the students and the mentors who made this exchange so impactful. ✨

Inspiring the next Generation of Leaders! 🎓🇦🇺🇭🇰 We recently concluded a collaboration with the Career Accelerator program at UNSW Business School. Over two weeks, a talented cohort of students from Australia spent time in Hong Kong engaged deeply with our operations, exploring how AI can be most efficiently utilised in Global Sourcing! 🤖 The insights and energy the students brought to Woolworths Group International were invaluable. They not only absorbed knowledge but also challenged existing frameworks, offering fresh perspectives about how we work and proposals linked to challenges currently faced by our global teams. Thank you to the students for their passion and hard work, as well as to UNSW for facilitating this impactful exchange - I really enjoyed the final presentations and ideas shared. A special mention to Matthew Lau from our team for leading this experience. After 5 years leading talent and being an HRBP at Woolies, the past few years have looked very different for me - I went into builder mode, working with our teams to transform how we leverage international talent, and setting up new offices and operations from 0 to 1. My adventures have taken my far and wide, from South Africa to the Philippines, India to Vietnam. I’ve experienced failure and disappointment countless times on the way, but eventually with the help of many, we get to where we want to even if the journey is not quite as what I had originally scoped out. Yet I wouldn’t change a thing - every failure was a learning opportunity. The last time I was in India in 2024, it was just an idea on a page. Today, we have a strong team of some of the most talented product experts in the region, developing products for BIG W and Woolworths Supermarkets. Will you be the next to join #TeamWoolies?

Last week, I had the privilege of celebrating my 10-year "Woolieversary," and I was incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by our dedicated teams across BIG W and Woolworths in Australia and Asia. Over the past decade, I have been inspired by working alongside amazing leaders, especially Nadene Smith and Tony Backshall They, and others, have provided me with wonderful opportunities for professional growth and development, and I am deeply proud of the experiences I've been given. I began as the Quality Manager for Apparel in Bangladesh, spent 8.5 years within our Hong Kong sourcing operation, and broadened my scope across different product categories, including General Merchandise and Home for the BIG W and Woolworths businesses. Throughout this journey, I've also had the pleasure of collaborating with countless amazing colleagues and partners, many of whom have become lifelong friends. How can #AgenticAI be used for Global Sourcing at Woolworths Group International HongKong? Recently, we were tasked with this question that sits at the intersection of technology, strategy and operations. Our team (Alexandre Milet, Martin Solorzano, Agnes Tjokrosetio, Hexuan Wang and myself) developed a working prototype. The solution included the following: 1️⃣ An AI-powered communication omni-channel 2️⃣ An insight generation tool to predict product performance in pre-launch We backed this up with detailed financial modelling, and automation workflow tools (N8N and Figma) to demonstrate feasibility. When I reflect on this internship opportunity as a Software Engineering (Honours) and Commerce student at UNSW student, I realise three key things. 1. You don't understand supply chain complexity until you trace a product from source to shelf. The level of coordination between 10+ teams, the layers of detail and the sheer number of hands a product passes through before it lands on a local shelf, is not something I was able to appreciate until I was inside it. 2. I spent 2 years learning about technology and finance in lectures. I spent 2 weeks in Hong Kong learning how it actually works inside a business. By building 1 financial model, automating 2 solutions with Figma and N8N, developing 30+ appendix slides and spending 60+ hours on stakeholder engagement. The collaboration gave us context. The deadline gave us momentum. 3. We learnt how to present to executives, ask better questions and to listen before you solve. The feeling of sitting at a table in a global city, surrounded by people who think differently, makes you realise that perspective is both valuable and incomplete on a global scale. I would like to thank the Woolworths Hong Kong team, with special mention to – Matthew Lau, Kevin Leung, Jeffery, Phil Cheng, Jean Paul Khaou, Christine Faulkner, Christine Leung, Dora See. Our team was thrilled by the encouraging testimonial from Woolworths International talent acquistion specialist: "They went beyond learners, bringing fresh perspectives to our internal thinking and providing creative insights that have already inspired new directions for our initiatives." And to UNSW Business School and undergraduate Career Accelerator: AGSM & UNSW Business School, Jared Harrison, Marlene Manks and Matti Wente – thank you for your support in creating an environment where we felt confident to take risks and think boldly. The Global Business Practicum was as meaningful as it was because of you. And a special thank you to City University of Hong Kong, Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) and UNSW alumni whose guest speakers shared insights on innovation, AI and Asia's emerging business landscape. I walked in, curious about AI and consulting. I walked out with more questions than I started off with. And I think that's the point. Grateful, challenged, and already thinking about what's next.

Over the past few weeks, I have had the privilege of leading 69 students from our undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Hong Kong for UNSW Business School's biggest ever Global Business Practicum 🌍✨ Together with 14 industry partners based all over the city (including Hong Kong Science Park and Cyberport), our students worked on real consulting projects spanning AI strategy, sustainability, market analysis, HR innovation and go‑to‑market strategies. A massive thank you to WNJ Ventures, Howden Insurance Brokers Limited, FCC ANALYTICS, Link-Pro CPA Limited, HRnetGroup, Woolworths Group International, FundFluent Limited, A&A Limited, Wizpresso 濃說, Eat Creative, On-us, Welldify, and Synergy Marketing Technology Limited. Your expertise, mentorship and guidance created an invaluable learning experience for our students. We kicked off on 22nd January with an Orientation Day hosted by City University of Hong Kong, with talks on Hong Kong’s business environment, history & culture, and a Cantonese language lesson. We even tried our hand at writing Fai Chun for the new year! For the next two weeks we engaged in a country briefing from DFAT; tours of Central, Tai Kwun, and Lantau Island; industry placements, site visits, and practice presentations, culminating in final presentations across offices city-wide; and finally our Hong Kong Alumni Networking Dinner - a fitting farewell that brought together students, alumni, and industry partners. Running a program of this scale in Hong Kong was a milestone for UNSW Business School, and a career highlight for me personally. It reaffirmed why I love the work we do in global experiential education. Thank you to our brilliant CASE team, the ADI team and Felix Ter Chian Tan, our CityUHK and DFAT colleagues (in particular Richard Adams), and of course, our remarkable students, who approached every day with curiosity, resilience, and ambition.
