For most facilities teams, a traditional HVAC and fault detection system helps surface symptoms, but they rarely reveal the underlying patterns that drive energy waste, recurring issues, or operational drift. In these scenarios, Willow’s broader capabilities make a real difference. Operational AI looks at systems across the whole building instead of just HVAC. It helps teams understand things like:      💡 Why equipment is running outside expected schedules     💡 Where energy waste is coming from across multiple systems 💡 How small changes in one area create ripple effects elsewhere 💡 Which recurring issues share a common root cause 💡 What actions will create meaningful improvement instead of temporary fixes These insights matter because they give teams a clearer picture of how their buildings behave. When all this data is connected, teams can move from reacting to isolated faults to understanding the full operational story and making decisions that improve performance in a lasting way. We walk through how these capabilities come together in our blog. If you want to explore how Willow supports facilities teams beyond HVAC, the full post is here: ➡️ https://lnkd.in/gjEqKWyk Do you have operational challenges in your buildings that traditional HVAC or fault detection tools tend to miss? #OperationalAI #SmartBuildings #FacilitiesManagement #BuiltEnvironment #PropTech #DigitalTwin #DataDrivenOperations

A lot of the time, facility teams are being asked to do more with less, yet most buildings still operate their fair share of issues. Fragmented systems, delayed information, and crucial data that isn't being utilized becomes a problem for a lot of teams. They have to spend their time chasing issues instead of getting ahead of them, and buildings fall short of the performance they’re capable of. When they start taking advantage of the abilities of operational AI, they can see dramatic shifts. By connecting data across systems and surfacing real‑time intelligence, it helps teams uncover value that’s been hiding in plain sight. This helps in multiple ways, from reducing risk to improving efficiency to making smarter decisions about where to focus time and resources. Our newest blog breaks down how that transformation is already unfolding inside facilities today. Interested? Did you know that in 2024, commercial buildings in the U.S. spent nearly $241 billion on energy? ⚡ 💸 It’s a big number, and many teams are wasting a lot of energy when they could be saving money. The initial thought for some people may be that many of these are simply vacant and keeping the lights on. It’s not because they’re abandoned, though. Many are underused, mismanaged, or just not understood well enough to operate efficiently. That’s the challenge Willow founder Joshua Ridley digs into in his latest piece for The AI Journal. He explores why so many buildings fall short of their potential, and why traditional approaches aren’t closing the gap. He then highlights how utilizing Operational AI can unlock massive economic and sustainability gains for these buildings and their teams. It’s a timely read for anyone trying to hit efficiency targets, reduce waste, or make smarter decisions about space and operations. You can take a look at the full article here: ➡️ https://lnkd.in/gWEMnFVT What’s the biggest efficiency barrier you’re seeing right now in your own buildings or portfolios? Many of our customers have spent years investing in tools, processes, and workflows to discover that something critical still isn’t working for them. Maybe the data doesn’t line up with how they operate, or the workflow slows them down instead of speeding them up. It could even be something technically working, but not in a way that’s as productive as it could be. When a customer shows us the gap between what they need and what the industry typically delivers, that’s where our work begins. We make sure to listen to their concerns and suggestions, and we reshape our approach so the solution fits into the real-world issues they’re trying to fix. This blog explores how Willow handles those moments of conflict and why building alongside our customers leads to better products, better outcomes, and better partnerships. If you’re curious about how we turn customer challenges into product direction, you’ll find a deeper look here: 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gMqqHemf We’re interested in your thoughts: What’s one area of building operations or digital workflows where you think customer‑driven innovation is still needed? #OperationalAI #ProductInnovation #CustomerObsessed #SmartBuildings #PropTech #BuiltEnvironment

🛍️ Walmart: Digital Twin of Enterprise Architecture 🚨 Digital Twin connects Enterprise Architecture to the Real World Digital Twins are no longer optional. Walmart uses them as a sandbox for innovation, enabling Enterprise Architects to reshape and model without risk. With AI, Digital Twins evolve into predictive engines that drive transformation. Far from being a buzzword, Digital Twin technology has become a core tool for enterprise architects and global retailers. 🛒 Walmart Example Walmart shows that a digital twin is Enterprise Architecture brought to life. By creating replicas of stores with virtual customers, Walmart simulates layouts, logistics, and customer journeys before a single shelf is installed. This transforms the Digital Twin into a sandbox where innovation is tested, validated, and scaled without risk At Walmart’s unmatched scale, resilience is essential. Behind every shopping list lies a backbone of factories, warehouses, supply chains, logistics, and digital channels. Walmart’s AI‑powered CMDB connects production and sales, enabling predictive forecasting, automated remediation, unified mapping, record reconciliation, drift detection, and digital twin validation Walmart has also extended digital twin technology into facilities management. By adopting Willow’s platform, the company unified siloed data across thousands of stores and supply chain assets, moving from reactive to proactive operations. This reduced downtime costs and empowered decision‑making at scale, proving that digital twins are essential not only for customer experience but also for operational resilience 🔑 What Digital Twins Do A Digital Twin is a computer model of enterprise architecture, systems, processes, or physical assets. It allows experimentation in a safe environment, where transformations can be tested before committing to costly or disruptive changes. By integrating live data, digital twins provide real‑time insights into performance, bottlenecks, and user behavior 🏗️ Enterprise Architecture Use Case For Enterprise Architects, Digital Twins provide a safe environment to model IT landscapes. They can simulate the replacement or removal of applications and see the impact before committing. This grounds innovation in the current state of systems, ensuring that changes deliver tangible business value 🤖 AI + Digital Twins Artificial intelligence enhances digital twins by automating their creation and maintenance, processing vast datasets, and simulating user behavior. AI‑powered twins can predict failures, optimize logistics, and recommend improvements. They evolve Digital Twins from static simulations into intelligent systems that continuously adapt and improve  📌 Conceptual analytic presentation from public frameworks and sources not enterprise‑affiliated © Walmart, https://lnkd.in/dKQmwTr8, IBM SAP,https://lnkd.in/dzGh84DA, Willow, https://lnkd.in/d68iZNQZ

It’s always exciting when we get to see Operational AI in action, and this example is a standout! Northern Arizona University handed over a mountain of building documentation to Willow and asked to make it usable. Instead of treating that as a document‑management problem, we treated it as a systems‑understanding problem. By using generative AI to ingest the entire library and map out how equipment, spaces, and systems relate to each other, we worked on making a knowledge graph for NAU that now supports analytics, root‑cause analysis, and commissioning insights tied back to original design intent. This is the kind of foundation that makes AI in facilities practical, using intelligence teams act on. Huge thanks to Nexus Labs for spotlighting this work and helping push the conversation forward! Be sure to keep an eye out for their newsletter next week for the full story. #OperationalAI #SmartBuildings #DigitalTwin #KnowledgeGraph #FacilitiesManagement #PropTech

Practical AI use case in Facilities: "Copilot, I'm going to be working on AC-10-1 to address fault code 12. What should I bring with me?" Northern Arizona University handed its building operations platform partner, Willow, a SharePoint folder containing roughly 6,000 construction drawings, as-builts, and O&M manuals, and asked them to make it usable. Instead of attempting to manually review and connect the building docs, Willow used generative AI to ingest the documents and extract system relationships: -How chillers are configured -Which pumps feed which air handlers -Which terminal units serve which rooms, into a structured knowledge graph That graph now underpins analytics, root-cause analysis, and commissioning comparisons against original design parameters. This story will go out in our newsletter, the Connected Buildings Briefing, next week. Comment 'connected' and we'll sign you up.
