🎉 Seabed License Milestone unlocked for WaveX in Albany 🎉 WaveX has received a seabed licence from Southern Ports for the deployment of our Large Scale Pilot Wave Powered Generator in Albany. This approval clears the way for our move from planning, into open‑water execution. At WaveX: Wave Powered Generators, we’re focused on delivering clean, reliable ocean energy that complements wind and solar - and doing it in a way that is responsible and community minded as we build a long-term pathway for marine renewables. Albany unlocks our ability to demonstrate our use-cases across industry, defence and of course - abundant green electricity. Recently took a guided tour of the NGI - Norwegian Geotechnical Institute Laboratory with Noel Boylan and Behnaz Abdollahzadeh. NGI are testing our recently collected samples from King George Sound for our Large Scale Pilot WEC deployment. The samples are already being analysed at the NGI - Norwegian Geotechnical Institute, ready for helical anchor pile design by The University of Western Australia (UWA Oceans Institute). This forms a core part of our research into #helicalpiles as #sharedanchors in the wave energy industry, and marine renewables including #floatingwind more broadly. We had the pleasure of visiting the WaveX: Wave Powered Generators team today for their model testing on the Swan River. After achieving a milestone last week by producing their first electrocity, WaveX are a great reminder of what focused innovation and the right team can achieve. WaveX’s journey says it all: from CERI program participants, to startup residents, and now Launch@22 scale-up residents. It’s exactly the kind of founder pathway we love to see, and one that’s clearly gaining momentum. With rapid progress and serious ambition, WaveX are definitely ones to watch in 2026. It's a special moment as a power generator - we're pleased to announce we've produced our first electricity. #CleanEnergy In just 4 months we've designed, built and now tested our PTO ("power take-off" or power generator) using off-the-shelf components including the test rig. #MadeInWA And this speed of development will scale. We have no underwater moving parts which means we use a "dry" PTO - a key differentiator - allowing us to adapt already proven electrical solutions, to our hydrodynamic smarts. What a way to start 2026. An MOU to progress a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). Discovery Bay Tourism Precinct (including Albany's Historic Whaling Station) and WaveX: Wave Powered Generators have signed an MOU to progress a PPA to offtake the future generation of persistent, green electricity from our Albany Large Scale Pilot Project. Thank you to Jen Bane CEO at DBTP, Tim Green and Graham Prentice for getting this across the line. It's virtually the only wave energy test centre in the southern hemisphere – so greatly appreciate the ongoing support to make this happen.
