About us
The VDC offers ongoing professional learning to all teaching and non-teaching staff in the VET sector through an extensive range of webinars, workshops, and free thought leader events as well as government funded programs, grants, scholarships and customised activities. Since its inception in 2005, the VDC has evolved to become one of Australia's leading providers of professional learning for VET educators, trainers, lecturers and other VET professionals. Its training programs are independently evaluated by the Australian Council for Educational Research. All program content is mapped against the VET Practitioners Capability Framework for educators at all stages of their careers. There is no membership fee to utilise the VDC's services, and competitive fees for enrolment in individual training events.

The National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER) has compiled a range of research on Industry Trends in Residential Construction which serves to highlight the central role the construction sector plays in Australia’s economy and workforce demand, while also pointing to significant structural pressures. Residential construction is strongly linked to population growth, housing policy and economic cycles, with the Housing Accord target of 1.2 million new homes over five years intensifying demand for skilled labour in the sector. Jobs and Skills Australia’s First Nations VET Workforce Research Paper looks at both the opportunities and persistent structural barriers shaping participation and outcomes for First Nations people working in VET. 🎉 The VET Development Centre (VDC) is proud to celebrate the successful completion of the Australia Awards Fellowship: Embedding Social Inclusion in Vocational Colleges in Vietnam. Across the Symposium in Ho Chi Minh City, Fellows participated in knowledge‑sharing sessions and site visits, from exploring inclusive learning environments at Doi Rat Dep, to discovering innovative training models at Vien Dong College, and engaging in peer learning across multiple VET institutions. We were honoured to welcome Ms Estrellita Boskovic, First Secretary, Australian Embassy Vietnam, and Ms Le Thi Hang, Deputy Director of the Department of Vocational and Continuing Education and Training (DVCET), who joined us for the closing ceremony and presented certificates to Fellows.
