Introducing Hannah Sanderson, who works in the Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) team at Origin, focused on helping create a workplace where people feel safe, supported and able to do their best work. Acknowledging that all employees have differing needs, Hannah and the HSSE team support an inclusive workplace through a range of initiatives including peer support programs and the Hidden Disability Sunflower, where a simple lanyard can signal someone may need a little extra support or understanding.

Congratulations to our employee volunteers who made almost 5,000 nutritious meals last week for Australians doing it tough. With the ingredients rescued from surplus food and fresh produce, the meals will directly support communities and people in need while reducing food waste. Thanks to FareShare and Origin Foundation volunteer program.
Proud to have spent some time volunteering with FareShare last week! FareShare is an incredible not‑for‑profit organisation that rescues surplus food and turns it into nutritious meals for Australians doing it tough, supporting charities and community groups across the country. During our time in the kitchen, our team contributed to the production of 4,914 meals - a small effort that will make a real difference for people in need. A huge thank you to the FareShare team for the warm welcome and the important work you do every day. We’re grateful for the opportunity to give back and get our hands dirty for a great cause 💚🍽️

We are proud to welcome some new starters at Shoalhaven Pumped Hydro -one of Australia’s earliest pumped hydro schemes still in operation. Operating since 1977, Shoalhaven remains one of only a few pumped hydro sites in the country. It takes a small, dedicated team to keep this almost 50-year-old asset running safely and reliably, while preparing it for the role it will continue to play in the energy transition.

It’s the central nervous system that coordinates Origin’s energy supply. Operating 24/7, our Monitoring and Support Centre (MSC) remotely monitors and controls Origin’s power stations and battery storage to provide energy to our customers and the grid when it’s needed most. As the energy system changes, the MSC also continue to evolve. Paul from the team takes us behind the scenes to explain how the centre works and the role it plays in delivering reliable energy for customers.

Students from Chinchilla State High School and TARA SHIRE STATE COLLEGE recently took part in a hands-on STEM workshop connecting them with medical researchers and real-world career pathways. Led by the Origin Foundation in partnership with QUT (Queensland University of Technology), students heard from clinical scientist and medical engineer Dale Neville before assembling prosthetic hands that will be donated to landmine victims globally. Large-scale batteries help us respond quickly to changes in supply and demand, making them an increasingly important part of Australia’s energy mix. Yesterday, we marked the completion of the first stage of the Eraring Battery project. As part of the project, more than 1,900 battery enclosures have been installed, along with 200km of power and communications cabling. When the second stage is complete, Eraring will be home to the largest operational battery in the southern hemisphere, helping ensure the site remains an important part of Australia’s energy system for decades to come.
