This week, we came together across Australia and New Zealand to mark International Women’s Day (IWD) - an important moment to reflect, celebrate and recommit to building an inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive. Our employee-led IWD event highlighted the power of diversity of thought, the importance of allyship across all genders, and the impact of mentoring - both formal and informal - in helping people build meaningful, sustainable careers. We also heard honest reflections on unconscious bias and the responsibility we all share to challenge it. MSD is proud to launch the Declaration for Action on Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH), developed in collaboration with patient groups, healthcare providers and non-governmental organisations across Asia Pacific. The Declaration sets out a shared commitment to improving awareness, diagnosis and care for PAH, and to working together to drive meaningful, sustainable improvements for people living with PAH across the region, which accounts for 60% of all PAH deaths.1 In Australia, PAH continues to have a significant impact on patients, families and the health system. MSD colleagues recently took part in the Girls in STEMM Expo at Macquarie University. The event brought together senior school students to explore study and career pathways in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine. At the Expo, our team spoke with students about the different ways STEMM skills are used in our industry and the wide range of roles that help support health outcomes, to help them better understand careers paths they could consider.
