Sykehusinnkjøp HF and Sykehuspartner HF Norway opened a $17M national tender for AI medical scribing. Way smarter than how other countries are doing it. So instead of every Hospital/Trust running their own 12-month procurement (with slightly different legal interpretations and requirements), Norway did it all at once at the national level. The Norwegian Hospital Procurement Trust — Sykehusinnkjøp HF, owned by all four regional health authorities — will deploy AI voice technology across all 21 hospitals under one framework agreement. After that, any public healthcare provider in Norway can adopt under the same terms. One huge legal review + One procurement = DONE The tender requirement reads: "The Solution shall be designed to accommodate classification as a medical device under EU MDR and CE marking requirements, including risk management, performance validation, and post-market surveillance." Translation: They need a supplier who actually knows what EU MDR, CE marking, GDPR, and the EU AI Act mean — and can support Nordic language models across Bokmål, Nynorsk, and Sami. This is the bar and it should be the bar everywhere.
