During the RIMPA Global Webinar 2026 this month, we asked our audience:   "What do data managers and information managers need to discuss?"   The top answers: privacy, security, data quality, governance, accuracy. For years, these two disciplines have operated separately.    But organisations pushing toward AI readiness are discovering something uncomfortable: information management and data management NEED each other.   Shared metadata. Aligned controls. Common definitions.   Because without them, you can't trust the data feeding your AI models.   That's what this webinar was about. Our consultants George Bassili and Su Jella MAICD, MBA, along with Adelle Ford and Annette Senior from Recordkeeping Innovation, showed how organisations can align data and information management practices.   The feedback from participants told us this conversation was long overdue. They shared challenges they're facing and found the webinar insightful, packed with actionable steps to take.   What would you add to this list? What do you think data managers and information managers need to discuss?   #RIMPA #InformationManagement #DataGovernance #IMSystems #IMS

  • IMS Academy is proud to be sponsoring and hosting the 4 June DAMA Melbourne meeting, bringing together Melbourne’s leading data practitioners and governance professionals to connect, learn and share ideas. And just before the DAMA event starts, we’ll also be hosting pre-event drinks and canapés to celebrate the launch of IMS Academy - our new corporate training practice designed to build AI and data capability across the enterprise. • Having AI issues? They might not actually be coming from the AI models themselves; more often, they trace back to data architecture and governance gaps. Our consultants, Ali Mirzaei, PhD (Head of Data Science & AI) and Su Jella MAICD, MBA (IMS Academy Practice Director) took this conversation to the DAMA Australia 2026 Conference in Canberra last month. They covered such topics as:  • Foundations and evolution of AI & ML  • AI strategy – how to move from vision to adoption Delegates also got some hands-on experience investigating some common AI issues caused by data governance. We got excellent feedback from our participants, who were happy to move beyond the AI hype and focus on the things that need to be in place to make AI work safely in real life. If you couldn't join us in Canberra, we are hosting a DAMA Melbourne event this June, where we will be covering the same topic – please come and join us:  📅 4 June  📍 Level 14, 333 Collins Street, Melbourne  🕕 DAMA Session: 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM  🥂 IMS Academy Launch Celebration: From 5:15 PM Register here to secure your spot: https://lnkd.in/gRSA5yCJ    #DAMAConference2026 #AIStrategy #DataGovernance #IMSAcademy #IMSystems #IMS

  • A great event hosted by ACS (Australian Computer Society) and DAMA Australia in Melbourne last night, exploring the important intersection of Data Governance and AI. Really encouraging to see strong engagement from across the industry and thoughtful discussion around how organisations can enable AI innovation while maintaining trust, governance and strong data foundations. Looking forward to more co-hosted events from two fantastic industry advocates helping drive the conversation forward.

Had a great time at the ACS (Australian Computer Society) and DAMA Australia event with DAMA Melbourne Branch Head Subhrajit Banik (SB), discussing the critical role Data Management plays in enabling successful AI adoption. I especially enjoyed the expert panel moderated by Manjusha Bhakta focused on AI innovation, with insights from AI and innovation leaders Kamran C., Ali Khan and Robin Mann. One of the key takeaways from the evening was the importance of establishing centralized AI infrastructure to enable federated AI innovation across the organisation. In other words, don’t try to centralise AI innovation itself - that’s a battle you’ll likely lose. Instead, provide the right guardrails, platforms, governance and data foundations that allow teams to innovate safely and effectively closer to the business. It was also great attending with IM Systems colleague Karen OShanesy, and bumping into Sandeep Shankar from the DAMA National Committee (love the photo!). Great discussions, strong perspectives, and encouraging to see the growing focus on practical and responsible AI adoption across the industry. Look forward to the next DAMA Melbourne meeting on June 4th (details coming soon)!

AI strategy is easy to talk about. Making it real across an organisation is where most struggle. Too much governance can restrict innovation. Too little can create risk. Finding the right balance is exactly what we’ll tackle at the next DAMA Melbourne event, proudly sponsored by IMS Academy. And this time, we are even more thrilled. We are launching IMS Academy - our new Data & AI corporate training practice. IMS Academy has been created to help organisations build practical AI and data capability across the enterprise, drawing on IMS’s proven advisory experience delivering complex Data and AI initiatives across government and industry. Join us from 5:15 PM for pre-event drinks and canapés as we celebrate the launch, followed by the DAMA Melbourne session commencing at 6:00 PM. In this session, we’ll explore: • How to balance AI innovation with risk and governance controls • How the right guardrails can accelerate AI adoption rather than slow it down • How to turn AI strategy into practical organisational action • How to operate effectively within emerging AI governance frameworks • How organisations can move beyond pilots and hype into sustainable AI adoption If your organisation is struggling to embed AI in a safe, scalable, and practical way, this session will provide real-world insights and approaches you can apply immediately. Event Details: 📅 4 June 📍 Level 14, 333 Collins Street, Melbourne 🕕 DAMA Session: 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM 🥂 IMS Academy Launch Celebration: From 5:15 PM Register here for more details and to secure your spot: https://lnkd.in/gRSA5yCJ Please indicate your interest in attending the launch celebration when registering. Our Managing Partner, George Bassili, and Senior Data Governance Consultant, Su Jella MAICD, MBA, visited Bendigo last week working on a data governance framework for one of our clients. Our team loves visiting our clients where they work to understand their environment and culture – to ensure our advice is tailored for their organisation and reflects their priorities. #Bendigo #IMSystems #DataManagement #ArtificialIntelligence #DataLeadership

  • A great post from our own Karen OShanesy - one of the senior consultants in our advisory team, specialising in data governance with deep expertise in the financial services sector. Worth a read 👇 #PayDaySuper #Superannuation #IMSystemsData

Are we ready for the biggest shift since SuperStream? ⚡ July 1, 2026, isn't just a date on the calendar - it's the day the "quarterly rush" officially stops.  Payday Super starts, and for those of us working within superannuation, the operational shift is massive. We are moving from a world of quarterly batches to a real-time, high-volume transactional model. The 7-day payment window for employers means our systems don't just need to be "stable"—they need to be agile. ⏱️ Lend an ear to our focus on these 8 strategic pillars: 🕳️  NPP integration - processing must be daily and near-instant. 🕳️   We'll have just 72 hours to allocate or return funds. Automation isn't optional - it's the baseline. 🕳️  Leveraging Member Verification Request services to catch errors as soon as possible. 🕳️  Ensuring there are fewer breakpoints in our data flows and payment allocations. 🕳️  As the ATO's small business clearing house closes, are we positioning ourselves as a known alternative? Employer Partnership: Moving from being a "collector" to a "consultant" for SME cashflow management. 🕳️  How are we going to assist employers transition from One Time Earnings to "Qualifying Earnings" calculations – alert employers to potential excess contributions? 🕳️  With daily, high-volume flows, there's no room for silent failures. Reconciliation, audit trails, and recovery playbooks must be built near real-time response - not quarterly hindsight. The funds that treat this as a "compliance tick-box" will be struggling.  The funds that treat this as a customer experience revolution will win. 🏆 I'd love to hear from my network:   Which of these 8 areas is currently the biggest "headache" for your operations team? Are we underestimating the move to 3-day allocation? 🤔 💬Let's discuss in the comments. #PayDaySuper #FinTech #Superannuation #IMSystemsData #CIO
