We're hiring a Head of Network Strategy for ANZ, and we think it's one of the most impactful roles in the Australian energy sector right now! Here's why. Australia's grid is a postcard from the future. 40% rooftop solar penetration, on track for rooftop solar to be the largest generator in the NEM by 2030, and gigawatts of connection requests. The tools utilities have used to manage the grid for decades weren't built for any of this. At GRIDSIGHT, we're building the foundational grid model and decision layer that charts the path through all of this complexity. As our Head of Network Strategy, you will define the strategic direction of our partnerships with ANZ's most innovative networks, and by extension, build the blueprint that the rest of the world follows. If you've built your career in or around DNSPs and want to do the most important work of your career, we'd love to hear from you. We love seeing our team members thriving in the communities they choose to work from! 💛 Gridsight is a remote-first company, which means our people get to choose where they do their best work. For Alex, currently our sole South Australia employee, he has found a community at Mâché Coworking! Co-working spaces are what make remote work really work. They give our team the flexibility to build their ideal work environment while staying connected to a local community. Remote-first doesn't mean isolated - it means our people have the freedom to find the spaces where they thrive. Thanks to Mâché for providing such a welcoming home base for Alex! ⚡ If you're looking for that kind of flexibility - and a team to build something meaningful with - we're hiring. Come find your spot: https://lnkd.in/dmTTcgSS
We’re continuing our 2026 member features by highlighting one of the newest brilliant minds at Mâché: Alexander Makarowsky. Alex recently joined the startup GRIDSIGHT as a Software Engineer and Data Scientist. With six years of experience in energy systems and optimisation, he’s helping Gridsight tackle massive challenges—from overloaded grids to EV connection requests—using the power of machine learning. 🤖⚡️ While his work is high-tech, his reason for joining Mâché was all about the human element: "Paddy Black spoke very highly of the overall ‘vibe’ here, and everyone has been simply wonderful. Dan Matthew probably helped seal the deal with a nice game of Scythe in the boardroom on my trial day 😅" Whether he’s discussing the impact of Silent Spring or looking for a challenger in Magic: The Gathering, Alex brings a fantastic energy to our halls. We’re so glad you chose Mâché as your home base, Alex! Get to know more about Alex and his work at Gridsight in the slides below. ⬇️ #machecoworking #adelaidestartups #energyinnovation #coworkinglife #communityculture #datascientist #adelaidebusiness

That's a wrap on Energy Networks 2026! ⚡ Three days in Adelaide with 1,250+ energy leaders, and the message from the industry couldn't be clearer: the transformation is real, and it's happening now! The biggest themes we saw were: 🔌 Australian DNSPs are leading the shift to DSO The shift to Distribution System Operators dominated discussions. Australia's DNSPs are working toward standardisation and cross-industry alignment. The NSW Distribution System Plan is a key example and it was powerful to hear from Colin Crisafulli, Timothy Jarratt FEI and Marc Thiébaut on how the conversation has shifted from "should we?" to "how do we do this together?", and how Ausgrid, Endeavour Energy (NSW) and Essential Energy are leading the way. 🔋Grid visibility as the enabler Andrew Bills' framing landed well: increasing utilisation of the existing network through better visibility and flexibility lowers costs for everyone. That's the DSO mission in a sentence. 📈 DER coordination is scaling Five years ago, this was theoretical. Today, tens of thousands of DER assets are behaving flexibly to support the grid, with many more to follow. The industry conversation has shifted from "can we coordinate DER?" to "how do we scale orchestration while maintaining reliability?” 🔬Coordination at scale demands more than schedules Real-time dynamic orchestration of DER, not static time-of-use signals, is what the grid needs. It's exactly the problem Gridsight has been built to solve. Thanks to Energy Networks Australia and everyone we connected with and shared their vision for what's next. The grid transformation isn't slowing down. Neither are we. 🚀 #EN26 #EnergyTransition Benjamin Rees, Sam Poustie, Robert Slater, Sean Baldwin, Robert Clear, Alexander Makarowsky, Nidhi Chandra

Every six months, something special happens at Gridsight 💛 Our team - spread across 8 states and 3 countries - comes together for a week that's become the heartbeat of our culture. Working week for us, allows the team to work side-by-side by day, then transition to scootering down to beachside restaurants, competing at lawn bowls, and solving the world's problems over pub dinners by night. The energy is electric (pun intended). Everyone shows up passionate about our mission to transform how the world manages its electricity grid. We're serious about the work - the grid's biggest transformation in a century demands nothing less - but we have a lot of fun doing it. ⚡ If you're someone who thrives in high-energy, mission-driven environments and wants to play a disproportionate role solving the world's most important infrastructure challenges, check out our careers page to explore opportunities: https://lnkd.in/dmTTcgSS 🚀

One of the strongest takeaways from our panels yesterday at DTECH was that unlocking flexibility starts with understanding what’s happening on the grid. Gridsight’s electrical digital twin gives utilities the visibility and granularity needed to model reality, rather than planning only for worst-case scenarios. This new layer of information is transforming how utilities plan and operate their networks, enabling flexibility to: 🔌 Accelerate customer connections 🔍 Identify where flexibility can defer or avoid network upgrades 📊 Quantify and forecast curtailment impacts 🧠 Orchestrate DER to manage distribution constraints Thank you for joining the discussions and sharing your perspectives. Brendan Banfield, PhD, Zach Pollock, Barton Hellyer, Peter Ambiel, Ana Hugener and Chris Ariante. If you’d like to continue the conversation, come and visit the Gridsight team at Booth UL 114 throughout the week.
