About us
Fortescue is the technology, energy and metals group accelerating the commercial decarbonisation of industry, rapidly, profitably and globally. As a major supplier of iron ore to the Chinese steel industry, we are now shipping at an annual rate of over 190 million tonnes, with more than two billion tonnes of iron ore shipped since 2008. We are committed to eliminating fossil fuels and achieving Real Zero Scope 1 and 2 emissions across our terrestrial Australian iron ore operations. Through Fortescue Zero, we are developing the solutions required to enable a zero emissions future and support decarbonisation globally.

AI is helping us to decarbonise faster, cheaper and more efficiently. From the rollout of our green grid, to energy forecasting and supply chain optimisation - AI is working alongside our people to eliminate fossil fuels from our Australian operations by 2030. We invited the The Australian Financial Review to come see it in action. This is Real Zero in motion. 💪 👉Read more from The Australian Financial Review: https://bit.ly/4m05wBu

The world is feeling the consequences of fossil fuel volatility in real time. From households to heavy industry - no one is immune. This is exactly why we are decarbonising. By 2030, we’ll eliminate ~1 billion litres of diesel equivalent from our operations, lowering exposure to price shocks and driving long-term cost savings. We’ll start seeing savings next year. The economics are now undeniable.

Thanks to the local CEOs and senior leaders who joined us at Fortescue HQ for the first CEOs for Gender Equity meeting of 2026. 70 leaders across WA shared ideas and challenged thinking, with a clear focus: retention is the new recruitment. CEO, Metals and Operations Dino Otranto and Director Global People Jackie Donnan made it clear. Our Real Diversity strategy centres on inclusion because our people are key to achieving Real Zero by 2030.

We’ve won the Business Award at the 2026 WA Multicultural Awards. 🏆 Recognising the impact of our Billion Opportunities Program, Buriya Capital Funding Program, and VTEC. Since 2011, we’ve delivered A$6.8 billion in contracts to First Nations–owned businesses and unlocked A$56 million in finance in FY24 alone, removing real barriers to capital, growth, and jobs. Powered by our people and the communities who make it possible. 💚 Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport 📸 Photo credit: Michael O’Hara

We marked International Women’s Day the Fortescue way with real stories, meaningful conversations, and action. From our Faces of Fortescue Women to Women in Mining Awards across our sites, we came together to recognise the people who lift others up and live our values. This year’s theme - Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls, reminds us that change happens when we act together. 💚

Fortescue has completed the acquisition of Alta Copper. 🤝 Copper is one of the world’s best electrical conductors and is essential to the technologies driving the energy transition, from solar and batteries to grid infrastructure. ⚡️ We are now the 100% owner of the Cañariaco Copper Project in northern Peru, a significant undeveloped resource within an emerging porphyry copper corridor. As Agustin Pichot, CEO of Fortescue Growth and Energy, said: “Copper is a core pillar of Fortescue’s growth and diversification strategy. The acquisition of Alta Copper strengthens our copper portfolio and builds on our existing critical minerals exploration activity.” Alta Copper Corporation (TSX: ATCU | OTCQX: ATCUF | BVL: ATCU)

The Pilbara sun is about to power something bigger. ☀️ At 440MW, the Solomon Airport solar farm will become Western Australia’s largest solar farm, more than doubling our solar capacity and generating enough power for approximately 150,000 typical homes. Together with wind, battery storage, and transmission infrastructure, we’re building the 24/7 renewable power to replace diesel in our operations. This is Real Zero in motion. ⚡️
