Your monthly board meeting is great for looking backward. But where do you actually help clients make decisions about what's coming? 🔮 Kevin Steel, Remote Fractional CFO at Clarendon Finance & Strategy - Remote CFO Support splits this into two separate meetings: Meeting 1: Monthly board meeting. Review the Fathom pack. What happened last month? Meeting 2: Monthly forecasting meeting. Update assumptions. Model new hires, new clients, major expenses. What happens next? "It's no good just setting up a forecast once a year. That needs to be updated every single month with changes in the business." Kevin found that when strategic forecasting gets its own dedicated space, clients actually use it to make decisions instead of just filing it away. Get the full breakdown of Kevin's fractional CFO approach 👇 https://lnkd.in/eh2X2ty5

Scaling advisory is where most firms get stuck. Demand grows, but delivery stays tied to one person. Jason M. Blumer, CPA, CEO of Thriveal, shared a practical framework for breaking through that wall — from pricing advisory as its own line item, to bringing your team into client meetings early. His starting point? Pick five clients who trust you. Walk them through their numbers. Practice the delivery. Build from there. Read the full breakdown and watch the recording of his Ask an Expert session👇 https://lnkd.in/eBya__FZ

If you’re a CFO in 2026, this might be you: Month‑end is taking too long. Your data is accurate but scattered. The board wants forward‑looking scenarios, yesterday. Meanwhile, reporting expectations are expanding, and you’re supposed to be in the driver’s seat for strategy.   We hear this every week, and the common thread is silos. Data everywhere, clarity nowhere, and that’s exactly the gap Fathom fills. Which is why today is a big moment. Fathom has been named the most popular app for Management Reporting in CFO Techstack State of the Stack 2026. Across 13,000+ finance leaders and 100+ real tech stacks, Fathom stands out as the tool finance teams actually use, not just what’s trending. For our product, engineering, and customer teams, this is the most meaningful validation: that we’re building the decision engine finance teams trust. What this means for you: We’ll keep evolving Fathom to help you turn consolidated data into investor‑grade reporting, driver‑based forecasting, and scenario planning. So you can take decisive action with confidence. Pressure‑testing your stack for the year ahead? Get the report and see which tools consistently show up in high‑performing finance stacks (and what they really cost). https://lnkd.in/ekcuhWgW

Revenue down doesn't always mean you're doing worse. Sometimes it means you're working smarter. Erica Goode, CPA just shared something we don't see enough of: honest, transparent financials from a solo firm owner. Her revenue dropped about 10% in 2025, but here's the thing...her per hour metrics tell a completely different story. When you zoom in on what you're actually earning per hour worked, you get a much clearer picture of your business health. Are you more efficient? More profitable? Getting better at saying no to low-value work? The per hour view shows you all of that. This is exactly the kind of insight that helps you make better decisions. Not just "did revenue go up?" but "am I building a more sustainable, profitable business?" 💡

Talking about my 2025 solo firm financials in the newsletter today. In a down revenue year (about 10% YoY), reframing my focus on the "per hour" metrics was my ego's saving grace. More details on my financials coming in next week's newsletter. If you want it directly in your inbox, subscribe in the link below my name 👆 **Thanks Fathom for the pretty & easy-to-generate graph 😘

Raising capital is one thing. Knowing what to do if it arrives late, comes in smaller, or doesn't land at all, is another. ⚡️Roman Villard, CPA, CPA has spent 15+ years helping growth-stage founders prepare for exactly these conversations. As Founder of Full Send - Accounting | Data, he builds financial scenarios that give operators clarity, not complexity. He's joining us live for an Ask an Expert session where he'll walk through his framework for investor-ready forecasting, and show how he builds it in Fathom. Bring your questions. 👇

When you work with agencies every day, you see the pattern... They know their numbers. They just don't know if those numbers are "good". Dan Arhin, Account Director at The Wow Company gets it. For the last 18 months, he's watched agencies struggle with fee income growth. It's been brutal. That's why he uses the Agency BenchPress Survey with every client. He takes their data and layers the benchmarks on top, gross profit, operating profit, freelancer reliance, all of it. Suddenly, they can see how they stack up against other agencies. "That's where the magic truly happens," Dan says. "Where people get really, really, really excited." Because now it's not just your numbers in a vacuum. You can see if your pricing's off, if your margins are healthy, if everyone's dealing with the same mess, or if you've got a real problem to fix. Take part in the survey by February 6th to have your say. It takes about 10 minutes, and the insights you'll get back (on pricing, profitability, and what top performers are doing differently) are worth way more than that. Have your say here 👉 https://lnkd.in/eWYgGpHT

Your financial health check shows you the numbers. But the real power? Knowing how to turn them into action. Running the reports is step one. The magic happens when you know exactly which metrics to watch and what moves to make next. In our latest guide, Andre Van Zyl, breaks down the three things that turn good data into great decisions: 1. Watch what's coming, not just what happened 👀 Non-financial drivers like customer retention and pipeline velocity predict your future before it shows up in your P&L. 2. Use benchmarks that actually work 📊 Industry averages are a start. But you need internal trends (are you improving?) and realistic targets (can you actually hit this?) to make smart decisions. 3. Master the analysis techniques that matter 🔎 Trend, correlation, and variation analysis help you understand why profitability shifted, where cash is leaking, and what's driving real value. Get the full breakdown 👉
