  • Last week, the Australian Telehealth Standards Consortium, of which Eucalyptus is a foundation member, launched the National Telehealth Standards at Parliament House. The document was launched in Parliament House by Dr Mike Freelander MP and Senator Anne Ruston, and Eucalyptus was represented by Tim Doyle, Matthew Vickers, Dr. Stephanie Allen and Lyndon Goddard. Telehealth has transformed access to care for millions of Australians. However, access alone is not enough as patients deserve care that is safe, high quality, accountable and grounded in strong clinical protections. These Standards set clear expectations across clinical governance, informed consent, continuity of care, advertising, technology and data security. In doing so, they raise the bar for the entire sector. Eucalyptus has long advocated for stronger oversight and clearer expectations in digital healthcare. Last year, Eucalyptus released its Telehealth Best Practice Principles, an outline of our existing clinical governance framework and the first time any telehealth service in Australia had published a clear statement of what high-quality care in the sector should look like. It is heartening to see that there is now a broader industry standard signed on to by the biggest players in the sector, and created in consultation with more than 5,000 surveyed Australians and key stakeholders in the health sector. We are grateful to Patients Australia for convening and leading this collaboration, and to our fellow Consortium members for their genuine engagement throughout the process. This is an important step forward for telehealth in Australia. By committing to clear and robust standards, we can give patients greater confidence in the safety and quality of the care they rely on, and continue building a sector that puts clinical integrity first.

  • As Eucalyptus continues to scale, we’re focused on strengthening the foundations that support our people and performance. 🚀 We’ve recently rolled out HiBob as our HRIS to bring greater clarity and consistency to how we manage leave, performance, and team insights across the business. As we grow, having connected, scalable systems is essential to building a high-performing, well-supported team. Great companies don’t just scale products. They scale how they work. This is one of the steps we’re taking to ensure our internal infrastructure keeps pace with our ambition. #HeartcoreHR

💡 A world-first, peer-reviewed study supported by Stanford University has reported 12-month weight loss outcomes from a real-world medical weight management program. The results showed that participants who remained engaged and followed their recommended treatment plan (n = 5,322) lost an average of 22.6% of their body weight over one year. 🧩 The study also found that consistent weight tracking was the strongest predictor of successful weight loss. In addition, regular engagement with a health coach was also linked to better adherence and stronger long-term outcomes. 🏋 This study reinforces the value of wrap-around care as part of a patient’s weight management journey as long-term success is more achievable when patients are supported with ongoing guidance, accountability, and behaviour change tools. • “When women are told their instincts are wrong, they lose confidence not only in their healthcare providers, but in themselves.” A recent Forbes article highlighted this persistent “gender health gap,” where women’s health continues to be under-researched and underfunded despite decades of medical progress. At Eucalyptus, we recognise that this gap is not abstract, it affects millions of women every day. From menopausal weight gain to challenges with obesity and metabolic health, our clinical governance framework ensures that independent specialist clinicians provide judgement-free care where patients are genuinely heard and treated for their real needs. Our framework sets a clear standard for safe, high-quality digital care. It acts as both a blueprint for our teams and the wider industry, with hopes to strengthen trust in telehealth and embed it within traditional healthcare. We’ve built technology-driven audits and proactive safety protocols as a safety net for patients. From real-time consultation reviews to AI-powered transcription that flags risks earlier, our system ensures care that is consistent, evidence-based, and safe at scale. By embedding safety into every clinical workflow, we are raising the standard of what patients should expect from digital health. Read the full article below 📰

  • The UK Parliament’s Health and Social Care Committee recently launched an inquiry into how best to reduce obesity in the UK, recognising it as one of the most urgent public health challenges of our time. The Committee invited submissions on the effectiveness of public health interventions and the opportunities presented by new medical weight loss treatments. In our submission, we emphasised the unique potential of these treatments, while noting that obesity disproportionately affects those least able to afford care or access in-person services. Proper NHS subsidisation of medical weight loss treatments therefore represents a major, cost-effective step in addressing these inequalities. We also highlighted the importance of wraparound care such as health coaching, nutrition support and digital monitoring, which, when paired with digital weight loss clinics, can overcome many of the barriers of traditional face-to-face services and support long-term adherence. Finally, we recommended that the Committee recognise the long-term economic, public health and individual benefits of weight loss treatments when combined with wraparound care, and ensure that their responsible use is not stigmatised. We also urged the Committee to support the Government’s 10 Year Health Plan on weight management and hold it accountable for delivering on its commitments. 📄 Read our full submission below
