About us

Our story began in 1916 with Celestino Baiada – a man who valued family above everything else. He found success in poultry and property, leaving a legacy he hoped would allow for expansion of the business, which could live on through future generations. We are passionate about producing premium quality poultry products through our Lilydale Free Range and Steggles brands. Years of experience has seen us grow into one of the country’s leading poultry producers. Under the brands of Steggles and Lilydale Free Range, we are able to satisfy Australia’s appetite for chicken every year. A vertically integrated model means we can better manage the poultry production process from start to finish; this includes breeding and hatching our chickens, producing feed, processing, and supplying fresh poultry and value-added products to local retailers, Quick Service Restaurants (QSRs) and food service customers. Being family owned, our passion, our ambitions and beliefs bring us together, regardless of who we are or what part of the business we work in. So if you are keen to experience working at a dynamic company that is both big and small and connect with great people, we would love to hear from you.

Updates

  • Each year, we take a moment to celebrate team members who have been with the business for decades. They are the ones who keep things running, who have seen it all and most importantly take the time to show new people the ropes because someone once did the same for them. Allan Prasser is celebrating 50 years at our Ipswich site! Fifty years, a lifetime of showing up, solving problems and setting the standard for everyone around him. We also recognised John Warner, Catherine Brown, Kerri-Leanne Garland, Ricki Hunt, John Waitr, Steven Tisdell, Dawn Randall, Graham Stair, Michelle Mitchell at Beresfield and Darrell Macdonald from WA – reaching 40 & 45 year milestones with Baiada. To everyone in our team celebrating a milestone and to the families who have backed you through the early starts and long days - a big thank you for being part of our journey. You have helped shape our culture as a place where people don't just work but actually want to stay. It is this culture and our people that we are most proud of. #Baiada #People #Culture

Tamworth’s Bicentennial Park will come alive on Saturday 13 December for the 2025 Baiada Carols in the Park. As the proud naming sponsor, Baiada is delighted to help bring this much-loved community tradition to life - a night where families and friends gather to celebrate the season together. For us, being part of Tamworth is about more than what we do day-to-day. It’s about showing up, supporting local events and strengthening the connections that make this region so special. Our Tamworth team will be on the ground, sharing the festive spirit and catching up with the community we’re proud to be part of. This event also supports two of our valued charity partners: 🚁 Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service - Northern NSW 🏠 Ronald McDonald House Charities Northern NSW (RMHC Northern NSW) With volunteers helping raise funds and awareness for families across the New England area. A heartfelt thank you to the organisers, performers and our Baiada volunteers who helped make the night so memorable. Nights like this remind us why community matters - and why Tamworth will always be an important part of the Baiada story. #Baiada #Tamworth #CarolsInThePark #Community #ChristmasSpirit #GivingBack #WestpacRescueHelicopter #RonaldMcDonaldHouse #NewEnglandNSW

  • Congratulations to you Karthikumar and to all the recipients of the long service awards this year. It’s the commitment and dedication of our people that makes Baiada what it is today. We’re incredibly proud of our people and the culture we’ve built. #Baiada #OneTeam

Humbled & Proud to receive my 20-year service award almost 50% of my lifetime spent with this incredible company. I wouldn’t be here this long unless I truly believed this is the best place to work and unless the company believed in me too. This organisation has shaped my growth, taught me business, and instilled a core belief in me #always do the right thing, and support those who come to you. What truly sets us apart is our culture. Our owner, #SimonCamilleri, travels across Australia to personally thank employees. In today’s busy world, that says everything about how much this company values its people. Grateful for the journey. Roots are deep and more to come. #20YearsOfService #Grateful #Leadership #CompanyCulture #ProudMoment #Milestone

  • Reliability is at the heart of how Baiada supports our customers. Our new Beresfield project goes beyond additional storage space - it’s an investment in stronger service levels and long-term supply chain resilience to better meet the needs of our partners into the future. Once complete, the new freezer at Beresfield, NSW, will: □ Provides 7,000 additional pallet capacity for finished goods. □ Implementation of an automated transfer from our Further Processing Facility through the Cold Store facility to vehicle loading. □ Eliminate manual handling, creating a safer and more efficient workplace for our people. □ Deliver a significant step forward in energy efficiency - operating with five times the storage capacity of the previous cold store whilst utilising the same amount of power consumption. We’re pleased to be working with North Construction & Building Pty Ltd , who are delivering an exceptional quality project two months ahead of schedule, ready for operation in January 2026. This project reflects our long-term commitment to building a stronger, more reliable supply chain - one that supports our customers, partners and people. #SupplyChain #Sustainability #CustomerFirst #Beresfield #Innovation

This July, our iconic Steggles Family Roast is getting a heartfelt new name: The Charity Chook.   Every Charity Chook purchased in July, Steggles will donate 30c to help support Aussie kids and their families who need it most, through our charity partners: Ronald McDonald House Charities Australia, Children's Cancer Institute, Lifestart Disability Services, Children's Hospital Foundation and more.   What makes this initiative special is the packaging - it features the portraits of three children and their families whose personal journeys have inspired the illustrations on our artwork.    Together with Woolworths Supermarkets, we are turning a family favourite into something even more meaningful.    To learn more, visit: https://lnkd.in/gry53htK #CharityChook #Steggles #Woolworths #Stegglersfor #ChildrensCharity

  • Our Hanwood processing site in Griffith is set to become our largest solar-powered site within the business - a key step in meeting our ESG sustainability targets and strengthening energy resilience across the business.   With 7,300 kWh of solar capacity being installed, Hanwood will soon generate more than 12.8 million kWh of clean energy every year — supplying 24% of the site’s power needs. That’s the equivalent of powering 2,300+ homes annually.   This project reflects our long-term commitment to responsible growth - reducing emissions, lowering reliance on the grid and creating a more reliable and sustainable supply chain.   #Baiada #Hanwood #SolarEnergy #ESG

  • We are happy to share that construction of our new Tamworth Processing Plant is progressing well and is scheduled for completion by April 2026. This facility will set a new benchmark for poultry processing in Australia, and be world-class in terms of the latest technology and processing techniques. The facility will be able to process up to 3 million chickens per week at full capacity. Our wastewater process, to be installed at the site, will unlock the ability to harvest biogas for the purpose of fuelling onsite boilers. It is estimated that 70% of our natural gas requirement will be offset by utilising this renewable energy initiative. The Tamworth site will also be best-in-class for our employees, offering modern amenities, cafeteria, an outdoor break-out area, along with a gymnasium and a people-first design that empowers our team to thrive. #Baiada #Tamworth #Sustainability
