  • National Reconciliation Week invites all of us to reflect on our shared history and consider the role we play in building strong, respectful relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and all Australians. This year’s theme, 'All In', is a call to action. It reminds us that reconciliation is not passive or symbolic. It relies on ongoing commitment, responsibility and participation from everyone. Australian Unity is committed to supporting the wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Our approach to reconciliation focuses on meaningful outcomes, stronger relationships with First Nations communities, culturally capable workplaces, and creating real opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Throughout this week, we are hosting events across the organisation to create space for learning, reflection and listening to First Nations voices. Because being 'All In' means turning commitment into action. Reconciliation is not limited to one week. It's an ongoing responsibility and part of the future we choose to build together. #NationalReconciliationWeek #AllIn #Reconciliation

  • Talking to Nine News, Michelle says that—despite working in aged care—she delayed discussions with her parents about home care until they were at crisis point. She’s not alone. New research from Australian Unity shows that more than a million Australians have been forced to make emergency aged care decisions for their parents, and 70 per cent of Australians say they’ve waited too long making aged care decisions. It’s why we’ve published the Ask Your Folks guide – a simple and easy-to-navigate booklet designed to provide practical tips for how to start a conversation about aged care planning with your older loved ones before an incident occurs. It’s just about opening the conversation about options and choice to ensure people can retain control as they age. For the full story: https://lnkd.in/gcn5UNZ5

  • There's been a lot of noise since the federal government announced plans to reduce the private health insurance rebate for over-65s. It's understandable, because for many older Australians health cover is one of their most important financial commitments. But whatever your life stage, the fundamentals of getting value from your health insurance don't change. Our CEO of Health Insurance, Rebecca Harwood (Windsor) , spoke with The Senior this week and her advice is straightforward: start by reviewing what you have, identify what you're not using and speak with your insurer before making any changes. The changes won't take effect until April 2027. There's time to make a considered decision...not a rushed one. • Lenette Gear, GM Customer at Australian Unity, recently joined Bec Wilson's Prime Time podcast to talk about why our 50s can be a powerful moment to rethink health, prevention and long term wellbeing. The conversation explores proactive health care, reducing cognitive load, and making sure health insurance evolves with you—continuing to support you in staying active and independent for as long as possible. It’s a thoughtful discussion for anyone thinking about how to invest in their health over the years to come. Listen to the full episode here: https://lnkd.in/gPMPWZMG

  • National Volunteer Week is Australia’s largest annual celebration of volunteering, recognising the contribution of millions of volunteers across the country. Volunteering doesn’t just benefit others. The Australian Unity Wellbeing Index shows a strong link between volunteering and personal wellbeing. At Australian Unity, our people receive a day of volunteer leave each year, with many choosing to support our charity partners. This year’s theme is a timely reminder to get involved. Support a cause close to your heart…it may give back more than you expect. #RealWellbeing #volunteering #volunteers #NationalVolunteerWeek Volunteering Australia

Many Australians leave their health insurance on autopilot, letting the same policy renew year after year. But changing life stages often calls for a closer look. In the latest Good Weekend magazine, Lenette Gear, GM Customer at Australian Unity, shared why it's important to regularly review your health insurance, especially as you enter your 50s. “It’s not just how much you’re paying, but what you’re paying for that really matters,” says Lenette. “The goal is to make sure it still supports your wellbeing now and into the future, and that you clearly understand the benefits you are getting at your chosen level of cover.” A timely reminder that informed choices now can support your wellbeing and make a meaningful difference that helps you live and age well.

  • Caring for others is meaningful—and it can be mentally and emotionally demanding. For people in the sandwich generation, the cognitive load of juggling responsibilities and worry can be immense. Looking after your own wellbeing helps sustain care relationships that work for everyone.     This series with Guardian Australia is about recognising the reality of life for the sandwich generation and sharing insights that help carers feel supported, not stretched.  Read Guardian Australia's full article here: https://lnkd.in/gtkUXr2r   And follow along for more.    #SandwichGeneration #RealWellbeing #AustralianUnity #AgedCare #HealthAndWellbeing #TheGuardian #Leadership

  • Today, we acknowledge the nurses who support Australians every single day. In recognition of International Nurse's Day, Australian Unity CEO Kelly Bayer Rosmarin, spent a day alongside Australian Unity nurses to see firsthand how they make a difference to the lives of our customers. Our nurses play a vital role in helping people live well, supporting the health and dignity of Australians across the nation. Their work is admirable, meaningful, and central to the wellbeing of the people, families and communities they care for. Thank you to all nurses for everything you do, today and every day. #InternationalNursesDay #RealWellbeing #Health
