In 2021, Australia recorded zero cervical cancer cases in people under 25 for the first time since data collection began in 1982 - a milestone driven by the success of the HPV vaccine. But with vaccination and cervical screening rates now declining, continued progress isn’t guaranteed. As a result, it is more important than ever for GPs to educate patients on the important role screening and vaccines play in the prevention of cervical cancer. To our wonderful trans and gender diverse community; we see you and we celebrate you ❤ 🏳️⚧️ International Trans Day of Visibility is celebrated on the 31st of March every year. It is a day to celebrate trans and gender diverse people around the world, our stories, our advocacy and our achievements. Thank you to Rachel Crandall who created Trans Day of Visibility in 2009, and to so many trans advocates who continuously work to advance trans and gender diverse rights. Trans Day of Visibility is also a day of solidarity; inviting allies and cis advocates to stand boldly alongside us. There are many ways to get involved and to stand up for trans rights this TDOV and beyond. Here are a few small ways to start from the TransHub team: 1. Be a good friend, lover, employer, teammate and neighbour to trans and gender diverse people. Trans people live everywhere and there is a good chance you already know quite a few. Use TransHub pages to get you started, and keep learning! 2. Don’t wait for trans and gender diverse people to show up before you make us feel welcome. Start building safety now and create a welcoming environment that shows trans people are safe with you. 3. Protect access to gender affirming healthcare by remaining aware of trans rights in your local area - keep up to date with trans healthcare by following AusPATH or trans advocacy organisations like Trans Justice AU or Equality Australia. 4. Practice using the correct pronoun and name for trans people; but remember, it's more than lip service. It’s about trans people having a right to dignity, safety and respect. Visit www.tdov.org.au for more info about Trans Day of Visibility & remember that allyship is a continuous process, not just a single day! #TDOV2026 #TransDayOfVisibility2026 #TransRights

ASHM is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of His Excellency Ratu Epeli Nailatikau, former President of Fiji and champion for the HIV response. His commitment to supporting communities affected by HIV was unwavering, and he will be greatly missed. Earlier this year, Ratu Epeli opened ASHM’s Prescriber and Training of Trainers program in Fiji. He stayed for the entire day, and took the time to meet with each of our team and thank them personally. His warmth, humility and genuine commitment will be remembered, and ASHM remains very grateful for the support he showed for our work in the region.

This year marks 10 years of the U=U (Undetectable = Untransmittable) campaign! 🎉💜 Grounded in decades of scientific research, U=U means that people living with HIV who are on effective treatment and maintain an undetectable viral load cannot sexually transmit HIV. For a decade, the message behind U=U has transformed prevention and helped change the global conversation about HIV - with over 1000 organisations in more than 100 countries supporting the campaign!

While uncommon in the general population, the incidence of anal squamous cell carcinoma is increasing. Certain groups, including people living with HIV, are disproportionately affected. Released last year, Australia’s first national Anal Cancer Screening Guidelines for People Living with HIV are designed to support clinicians working with people living with HIV to understand when and how to screen for anal cancer. Last week Women's Health NSW worked with ASHM and Dr Ellie Freedman on an amazing Learn at Lunch webinar focused on navigating sexual health in DFSV and women's health services. The session honed in on syphilis because there is a rising incidence of syphilis in the general population. ASHM have a range of tools available, including this clinical indicator that will help you keep syphilis front of mind when your client has unexplained symptoms: https://lnkd.in/gJR6QZyG #syphilis #womenshealth #sexualhealth
