Congratulations to our project, West BrickVille @ Bukit Batok, and the team for successfully obtaining the award of Green Mark GoldPLUS Super Low Energy!   This achievement reflects the team’s strong commitment to sustainability, with energy efficiency designs that fully comply with the stringent SLE requirements. The project achieves a RETV of less than 15 W/m², demonstrating exceptional passive design that reduces thermal heat gain through the building façade and lowers the energy required to cool the residential indoor environment.   Energy efficiency is further enhanced through lifts equipped with VVVF drives, regenerative drives, and sleep mode. These features enable efficient motor control, recover energy during operation, and reduce standby power consumption, thereby contributing to overall energy savings.   The lighting design also meets the exceptionally stringent Green Mark SLE requirements, making it one of the key contributors to the building’s energy efficiency. In addition, the provision of smart lighting control systems further enhances energy efficiency.   As the ESD consultant, we are proud to have supported the project team in translating sustainability goals into practical, performance-driven design strategies that contributed to achieving Green Mark certification. Congratulations to our project, Yishun Park Hawker Centre and the team on successfully achieving the Green Mark Gold certification! The development has demonstrated a commitment to sustainable operations and continuous environmental improvement. A range of green features and management practices have been implemented across energy, water, and waste to enhance operational efficiency without compromising the functional and occupant health and wellbeing. Strategies to monitor, manage, and reduce energy and water consumption become the key measures to improve operational performance. Food waste generated from daily operations is processed on-site. On-site food waste recycling has been adopted to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill and lower associated greenhouse gas emissions. The hawker centre actively engages tenants and occupants through regular health and wellbeing–focused programmes, including activities that promote physical activity, mental wellness, and healthy lifestyle habits. These initiatives enhance occupant wellbeing and contribute to a supportive and health-conscious community environment. Through these initiatives, the Yishun Park Hawker Centre showcases how thoughtful operational practices, and occupant engagement to elaborate can collectively contribute to a more sustainable hawker centre.
