  • Former world champions Carissa Moore and Ítalo Ferreira returned to the top of the World Surf League podium at the New Zealand Pro, both securing their first Championship Tour victories since becoming parents. Competing in clean four-to-five-foot waves at Raglan’s Manu Bay, Moore delivered one of the most consistent performances of the event, including a near-perfect 19-point semi-final before defeating Sawyer Lindblad in the final. The win marked her first CT title since 2023 and moved the five-time world champion to No. 2 on the all-time CT win list. “This is for the moms, never stop dreaming if you want to,” Moore said after the victory. “The win means so much to me.” On the men’s side, Ítalo Ferreira powered through an all-Brazilian semi-final before defeating Australia’s Morgan Cibilic in the final with a combination of progressive airs and high-scoring waves. The result marked Ferreira’s 11th Championship Tour win and moved him to the top of the 2026 rankings. “I’m so stoked to win a comp on a real left,” Ferreira said. “Dad's power, right? I'm so happy.” More photos and full story here > https://win.gs/4x9pqiH

  • Neymar Jr. will represent Brazil in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, marking the fourth World Cup selection of his career following previous appearances in 2014, 2018 and 2022. The latest episode of his YouTube series captures the emotional hours leading up to the announcement, following Neymar Jr. from Santos FC’s match against Coritiba through to the moment Carlo Ancelotti confirmed Brazil’s final squad. “I’m not an anxious person, but today I already started thinking about it,” Neymar Jr. says in the episode. “Whatever happens, if I’m there I’ll be very happy.” When his selection is confirmed, the cameras capture the reaction in real time. “It’s hard not to get emotional. With everything we’ve been through, everything they’ve watched me go through, getting here and being able to compete in another World Cup is incredible. These are tears of pure happiness.” With 79 goals for Brazil, Neymar Jr. remains the country’s all-time leading scorer and now prepares for another appearance on football’s biggest stage. • Max Verstappen’s ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring debut showcased the four-time Formula One world champion in a completely different environment, tackling one of the world’s toughest endurance races across a full day and night of racing on Germany’s legendary Nordschleife before a late mechanical issue ended the team’s fight for victory. Verstappen produced decisive overtakes during the overnight hours and spent much of the race at the front of the field alongside teammates Dani Juncadella, Lucas Auer and Jules Gounon. Ahead of the race, Verstappen reflected on his goal: “Staying out of trouble. You don't want to pick up any kind of damage early on. You want to keep the car in one piece, and also make the difference in the traffic.” Meanwhile, Red Bull Team ABT recovered from an early puncture to secure second place with the #84 Lamborghini. Luca Engstler said after the finish: “We dropped back to about nine minutes behind the leader. But I never gave up, and in the end, we're here, and that's just insane.” Full race recap, quotes & more photos from Nürburgring > https://win.gs/4nATNtX

  • 346,527 participants. €9.2 million raised. With one goal, to find a cure for spinal cord injury. Every year, up to 500,000 people worldwide sustain a spinal cord injury (WHO, 2024). There is no cure. And the condition receives a fraction of the research funding directed at comparable diseases — too rare for commercial pharmaceutical investment, too complex for most government priorities. The Wings for Life World Run exists to close that gap. On 10 May 2026, a record-breaking 346,527 participants across 173 countries ran simultaneously — pursued by a moving Catcher Car that serves as the finish line — raising a record €9.2 million for spinal cord injury research. One hundred percent of every entry fee and donation reaches peer-reviewed research directly. "These are not just statistics and numbers," said Anita Gerhardter, Chair of the Executive Board at Wings for Life. "They represent people who care, who show up, and who support our mission." Among those who participated were the scientists working to find a cure. Alejandro Arriero-Cabañero, a PhD researcher at the Hospital Nacional de Paraplejicos whose work — and drug trial for spinal cord injury — is funded by Wings for Life, ran alongside the wheelchair participants he works to help. "My motivation was to combine my work in the lab with creating this atmosphere to keep helping all the people in wheelchairs," he said. "Running alongside them today — seeing them and thinking, they don't surrender, you have to not surrender either — that's what makes this more than just a race. Every rock can create the mountain, so every runner counts." Christian Göritz, PhD, Principal Investigator at the Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm and a Wings for Life-funded researcher, echoed that: "Everything raised goes directly to the cause, nothing is wasted. Spinal cord injury cannot be solved alone — what makes this event so special is that everyone can take part, no matter their level, and every contribution truly counts." This year's edition set 2 new world records. Japan's Jo Fukuda covered 78.95 km in Fukuoka to claim the men's title; Mikky Keetels of the Netherlands ran 62.24 km in Breda to claim the women's. The oldest participant ever to complete the run also took part: Paula Attwenger, 100 years old, from Austria. Across 600+ cities and 173 countries, participants combined for 2,889,278.26 km. Behind those distances is a research portfolio that is quietly moving faster too. Since 2004, the Wings for Life Foundation has funded 344 research projects worldwide. 72 are currently active across 15 countries and 4 continents — and as of 2025, 18% have already moved from laboratory discovery into clinical trials. Since its inaugural edition in 2014, the Wings for Life World Run has generated €69.71 million for spinal cord injury research. 600 km. 96 hours. Virtually no sleep. Arda Saatçi has started one of the most extreme endurance projects of the year: an ultrarun from Death Valley to Santa Monica Pier through relentless heat, sleep deprivation, and more than 6,000 m of elevation gain. Facing temperatures above 40°C and asphalt reaching up to 80°C, the German athlete is pushing beyond the limits of human performance through a continuous livestream featuring biometric data and real-time performance insights. Part of the ongoing Red Bull Cyborg Season series, the challenge combines ultrarunning, mental resilience, and data-driven storytelling across one of the harshest environments imaginable. Every kilometre between the lowest point in the United States and the Pacific coast of Los Angeles tests the balance between heat, fatigue, recovery, and survival. As Saatçi explains: "This is precisely the kind of challenge that will push me to new limits - and push me to try to break through them. The conditions are brutal, and I will try to grow beyond my limits there and master this challenge as best as I possibly can, hopefully crossing the finish line with a winner’s smile.” Watch LIVE on Red Bull TV: https://win.gs/4ndaBqE Story for Press > https://win.gs/4cPKe6A #Ultrarunning #Endurance #ExtremeHeat #Ultramarathon #HybridAthlete

  • Remco Evenepoel delivered a statement ride to claim his first Amstel Gold Race victory on Sunday, timing his move to perfection after 257.2km and 33 climbs across Limburg. The Red Bull – BORA – Hansgrohe leader surged clear in a final sprint against defending champion Mattias Skjelmose in Valkenburg. Supported by a strong team effort, Evenepoel joined the decisive breakaway with just over 40km to go, thinning the group before powering up the Cauberg to force a two-man showdown. The Belgian cyclist revealed: "I really love this race. Lots of short, hard climbs and, actually, the race more or less opened on the same place this year again, so I was really confident. I felt much better than I did last year in the final. For sure, it's the most beautiful victory of the season. For me this race is just under the monuments, so it's really high on my ranking. It's in my top eight victories in my career, probably." More for media > https://win.gs/4cC30ga #AmstelGoldRace #Cycling #RoadCycling

  • Wings for Life is not only a non-profit foundation, but also an incubator dedicated to advancing spinal cord research—it supports selecting, funding and accelerating the most promising science from more than 250 applications each year. With 344 projects funded and 72 currently active, its Accelerated Translational Program helps move discoveries from the laboratory towards clinical trials, while partnerships such as the Microsoft AI for Good Lab address key challenges including small patient populations, fragmented datasets and long recovery timescales. One of the foundation’s biggest fundraising sources is the Wings for Life World Run—a simultaneous global event where every participant is a direct research funder, with 100% of entry fees going directly to spinal cord research. In 2025, 310,719 participants raised €8.6 million in a single day, contributing to clinical progress—including a study on a drug candidate showing a three-fold increase in motor connectivity and nerve stimulation improving function where therapy alone produced no benefit. "The question is no longer whether spinal cord injury will be treatable, but when," says Verena May, Executive Director, Research Portfolio at Wings for Life. "Multiple therapies are now in clinical trials, some already showing positive results. So many more approaches are fuelling the preclinical pipeline." • Wout van Aert delivered a defining performance to win the fastest-ever edition of Paris–Roubaix, holding off Tadej Pogačar in a dramatic velodrome sprint after 258.3km of relentless racing at an average of 49km/h. Battling punctures, mechanical issues and brutal cobbled sectors, the Belgian kept himself in contention when it mattered most. He timed his move perfectly—overtaking with just 200m to go to secure an emotional, career-defining Monument win and his first triumph in the ‘Hell of the North’, completing a powerful comeback from injury earlier this season. Following his breakthrough victory, the 31-year-old reflected: "It means everything to me. It's been a goal since 2018, when I first did this race. It's now eight years ago and I lost a teammate, Michael Goolaerts. Ever since then, it has been my goal to come here and point my finger to the sky. This victory is for Michael, but especially for his family... for the staff of my previous team." Full story for media > https://win.gs/4efAR0X #ParisRoubaix #Cycling #WoutVanAert

  • Max Verstappen is set to take on one of endurance racing’s toughest challenges in 2026 after Verstappen Racing confirmed its entry for the Nürburgring 24 Hours, partnering with Mercedes-AMG Motorsport. The program marks another step in Verstappen’s ambition to compete beyond Formula One, with preparation beginning at the NLS2 event on March 21 before the 24-hour race in May. The team’s Mercedes-AMG GT3 will run with car number 3, with Verstappen joined by Dani Juncadella, Jules Gounon and Lucas Auer. The announcement was revealed in spectacular fashion as German athlete Max Manow performed a 131-metre BASE jump into a cooling tower in Meppen, unveiling the new Red Bull livery for Mercedes-AMG Team Verstappen Racing. For Verstappen, the Nürburgring 24 Hour has long been a personal target. “The Nürburgring is a special place. There’s no other track like it. The 24h Nürburgring is a race that’s been on my bucket list for a long time, so I’m really thrilled we can make it happen now.” After securing his DMSB Permit Nordschleife and winning NLS9 last season, Verstappen says the focus now shifts to preparation. “We’ve got a strong line-up with Dani, Jules and Lucas and great support from Red Bull and Mercedes-AMG Motorsport. Now it’s about putting in the right preparations before the events, so we can maximize everything in the races.” The 2026 Nürburgring 24 Hours will be broadcast live on Red Bull TV and the Red Bull Motorsports YouTube channel.
