This Country’s Doomed! Unless…
Overcome Rebel Inc.’s toughest scenarios with these game-saving tips.
Your country’s facing a violent insurgency, inflation is out of control, and the government is wracked with corruption. It’s just another normal day in Rebel Inc., a riveting “insurgency simulator” in which you’ve got to stabilize a fictional nation.
Cleaning up the mess won’t be easy. But with these tricks for solving seven of the game’s biggest challenges, peace is within your grasp.
I’m surrounded by insurgents!
Your goal is to stabilize the region, not destroy your enemies (as tempting as that might be). In fact, focusing too much on military efforts will quickly diminish your reputation.
The key to dealing with insurgents? Containment. Trap them in low-population zones and use the corners of the map, defensive structures, and rivers to corral them. Keep them under control and it’ll be much easier to engage in peace talks.
Inflation is skyrocketing!
A balanced economy is a stable economy. Spend too much money in just one area and inflation will rise. If that happens, take it as a signal to spread your resources around a bit more and hold off on extravagant purchases.
If you’re playing as the Economist, you can also quickly lower inflation with the one-off Bank Reserve Increase government initiative.
My country is broke!
What did we just say about holding off on extravagant purchases? Did the remote countryside really need all those solid-gold toilets?
Anyway, no problem: Just wait until the next paycheck comes in. But next time, plan better and leave yourself a small cushion of cash for unexpected emergencies (around $10, unless you’re saving up for something big).
Corruption is rampant!
Sounds like you need a more rigorous job-interview process! Or at least better planning.
The best time to deal with corruption is early in a mission, before it becomes a problem. Invest in anti-corruption initiatives as soon as you can afford them. Also, don’t make any decisions based on random events that risk increasing corruption, especially if this rating is already running high.
My reputation’s dropping fast!
First, open the Region menu and check out the Reputation section. Here you’ll see all the major causes of reputation loss. Focus on managing these threats one by one.
Often, reputation sinks when you’re not stabilizing zones quickly enough (which allows insurgents to claim huge swaths of connected territories). Another is letting insurgents retake areas you’d pushed them out of. If you can’t reliably hold a zone for the long term, it’s often better to let it fall until you have the resources to effectively keep enemies out for good.
I don’t know where to put my HQ!
There’s no right answer here, but there are some general principles to follow.
If you want to keep the most people safe, choose an area with a dense population. If you want to ensure your troops can quickly travel to problem areas, prioritize a zone with well-connected highways. Ultimately, your ideal HQ location depends on your overall strategy and play style.
The enemy won’t accept my peace offerings!
Negotiating peace requires making painful but necessary compromises, so carefully manage reputation loss: You’ll sacrifice some by keeping troops actively fighting, but don’t throw away so much that the insurgency grows angry and refuses to negotiate.
It also helps to put significant military pressure on the insurgents while the peace process is underway, so they don't attempt to wait you out until your rep drops to zero. Make them an offer they can’t refuse.
