With apologies to the nice people at Oxford, dictionaries don’t usually look all that great. But LookUp is a dictionary for those with a penchant for aesthetics; the app delivers its daily definitions with illustrations that trigger both sides of your brain. Learn from a mahoosive collection of words like reticent, impresario, and mahoosive, which, we just learned, is really a word. Tap a card for pronunciations, origins, and synonyms; heart a word if you have a particular adulation for it.
Invaluable for book readers.

I am an avid reader but my first language is bengali. So, I often stumble into unknown words. This dictionary not only have detailed descriptions of words but also gives me the ability to create collections. I can group and store words easily to review them later on.
Fine But Not Great

Here are my problems after using the app for just two hours: (1) You can't select only the most relevant definition to you. This means that the "Learn" feature could be using a completely different (potentially useless) definition. (2) If you misspell a word, there isn't always a suggested correction. Example: I tried "Messrs" but actually I needed to type "Messrs." with a period. Took me a while to figure out. (3) Unable to create your own entries. This would fix my first problem--and also fix problems where my word isn't listed in the Oxford dictionary. (4) The list of words within a collection is by default sequenced from when you added a word to the collection. The option to alphabetize the collection's word list has to be pressed each time you leave and reopen the collection.
Functional & beautiful. ONLY Worth paying fee if they keep updating it (they haven’t been)

I don’t mind paying a hefty lifetime fee for a product that’s pretty and works well, unlike some people. This one is beautiful, but has bugs. I like that it has an app for every device, unlike my other favorite Merriam-Webster, but none of the saved words sync between devices. None of the shortcuts or Siri commands seem to work with the Apple Watch. I wish I could say, “Siri, word of the day”, for the Apple Watch. Last release was over 7 months ago. Its seems the developers are abandoning this app and cashing in.
