Most 3rd party messaging apps do not work very well with CarPlay…if at all. The ability to text using voice while driving…not unlike talking to someone in the seat next to you… is a utility that, for me, is a big differentiator. Viber doesn’t do it; WhatsApp doesn’t do it. This alone makes Telegram more viable for me. Whether it is end to end as secure as iMessage, I do not know. But all my friends do not have iPhones, so this is useful for sure. Addendum: They need to tune this up for CarPlay use. It comes closer than others, but needs work. I can receive a message and answer it, however, I cannot start a message nor can I answer one unless I do it right after hearing it. CarPlay capability is essential.
The macOS version of Telegram is specially built specifically to work on macOS. It is an absolute pleasure to use. While the regular Telegram Desktop app is definitely good, it is a universal client that is built for deploying on Linux, Windows, and Mac all at once. The special macOS version is updated by a couple of dedicated Telegram team developers who work hard to make it as absolutely flawless as possible and keep it working SO well. I wish it was possible to put this much effort into the regular Telegram desktop client, but it is far more difficult since that one is deployed cross-playform.
Telegram is overwhelmingly saturated by bots, and I would seem fine in the age of AI. however the bots here aren't that perfectioned, to say in the softest way - they are absoultely outdated and more work against the platform rather than provide any useful functions. One most ourageous thing that TG is very silent about - is that their messaging is limited to a certain amount per time,.that remains ahidden mistery. And even if there are no limits imposed he bots flag a profile that was once imposed of limitations. Under that pretext they try to sell you a Premium package, which has the same issue. Consider this when download the app. AppStore has to provide a clearer description of these limitations as well. The feedback is more for users, as we know telegram's support is a myth, so it is highly questionable if anyone (meaning Human) reads these comments .
I love telegram! I wish all my friends/family would be on it, so I don't have to use any other chat apps. I love how the developers always update things to be faster, for it to work better. Specifcially, as a person who prides themselves in having a conversation throguh GIFs and Stickers ONLY, I really appreciate the easy access to those, whereas in other apps its absolutely inaccessible. I also enjoy the MANY features of group chats (like pinning the message to the top is freaking phenomenal). Way to go Telegram! I hope more people get to use it!
I created a Telegram account to have a conversation with a friend. A few weeks into us talking, Telegram “froze” my account for violating their terms of use. 1) I was only talking with my friend, 2) I was not spamming, scamming or advertising, 3) my friend never complained, and in fact found me on another messaging platform to continue our discussion. I appealed Telegram’s decision three times but they only responded the fist time (and would not tell me what I did wrong). They would not clear the freeze.I went on to learn that my chat with my friend was not secure. It was stored on their servers, and when they reviewed my appeal they gained access to our private conversation because it was not started as a “secret chat.” This is alarming.Since my account was frozen, I couldn’t delete the sensitive content. Fortunately my friend was able to delete it from her side.I’m done — Telegram lost a customer to Signal for life. Unsecure product, terrible functionality that freezes accounts (did nothing wrong, no one complained, it just didn’t like something I posted in a private chat between two people), and poor customer service.
I’m absolutely in awe of Telegram, its visionary creator Pavel Durov, and the revolutionary TON cryptocurrency. Telegram isn’t just a messaging app—it’s a masterpiece of speed, security, and freedom. While others compromise on privacy, Telegram remains a stronghold of independence, setting the gold standard for digital communication. Pavel Durov is a true tech genius and a pioneer of the free internet. His relentless pursuit of innovation and resistance to centralized control is inspiring. Few people have had such a profound impact on global communication while staying true to their principles. And now, TON (The Open Network) is reshaping the future of blockchain. Fast, scalable, and seamlessly integrated into Telegram, it’s a game-changer for the crypto world. With TON, we’re witnessing the dawn of a decentralized economy that’s actually usable in everyday life. I have nothing but admiration for Telegram, Durov, and TON. This is the future, and I’m here for it! 💚
This app is obviously not designed for MacOS, and I constantly find small annoyances that make this frustrating to use. For example, under the application menu there are two shortcuts for hiding Telegram, ⌘W and ⌘H, but the first shortcut is for closing windows literally everywhere else. Windows within the app don’t respect various MacOS conventions, like revealing the menu bar when you’re in full screen mode, cycling through windows with ⌘`, the list goes on. To say nothing of the fact that it’s constantly crashing… the Lite version is somewhat better in some respects, but also suffers from being a low priority platform for the developers, it seems.
I am part of many groups on Telegram, many of which I don't really check all the time, only once a week or less, but they keep poping up contantly in my contacts list every time one of the thousands of members write a message, getting in the way of the contacts and small groups that I do want to see all the time.My suggestion is to be able to hide some groups or put them inside a folder.Maybe also a functionality for "grouping groups" also.
This is literally the worst messaging app I've ever used. I get a lot a of random offers to chat from a particular website and during one of those chats, the unknown party turned out to be a scammer. I, of couse, knew perfectly well I was chatting with a scammer, but before I could finish collecting evidence and report the user, my account became inoperable. I suspect the scammer knew I was onto them and reported me. But it could also be the case that whatever bots that Telegram uses to monitor messaging activity noticed the transactional nature of the chat and decided to freeze my account. I used another bot to appeal, but that didn't work either. Now I've lost all of the conversations and contacts that I had built up. Any app is only good as its support services, and the people managing Telegram support must have the lowest IQs on the planet to not be able to read my chat transcript and realize that I wasn't the scammer. For the entire remainder of this product's lifespan, I'll be sure to tell everyone I ever meet to avoid using it. This app is garbage. Complete garbage.
you guys doing excellent! Thanks for this clean design! i really appreciate that. but i just wanna one more option to make this app perfect! please add an option that users can turn off automatic downloads for images videos and … just like mobile versions. i think everyone has my point too and we can use less internet charge! cause we are force to download unwanted stuffs! please add this feature. Thanks for reading.❤️
End to End encryption is *off* by default, meaning that Telegram's servers do have visibility into your messages, and you must trust that they're not looking.Additionally, the end-to-end encryption isn't nearly as useful as what's in Signal: it's per device, so the neat thing of going between phone/laptop/ipad and continuing your conversation? Not if you want it private and in Telegram. There is also the lack of end-to-end encryption for group chats (something that Signal has had for a long time).Even then, the protocol used for end to end encryption is something custom and received a decent amount of criticism. The Number 1 rule for cryptography is "don't roll your own". The second rule is "do not roll your own".The collection of contact data (on phone) is (of course) disturbing as a default. This all being said, the app is functional. It's just the service is probably not all you hope it to be.tl;dr: use Signal if you care about security and privacy.
I’ve been using Telegram for over 10 years now, and I can confidently say it’s the best messenger that has ever existed. Nothing else even comes close. The speed, reliability, features, and continuous innovation make it far superior to all other apps. Compared to WhatsApp, which is the worst and most frustrating messenger I’ve ever tried, Telegram is on another level entirely. Thank you Telegram team — no one can beat you.
