Show off your love for letters in this slick tile-based game, where choosing the right boon is just as important as spelling big words.
This game really scratches a few itches for me. First of course just the spelling games itch. The more unique one those is The Systems Itch. The game has a bunch of systems (letters, tile points, playing a tile, scoring, money, swapping, shopping, challenges, potions, etc) and the game gives you the tools to connect and play these systems off of each other. I really like the boons that affect other boons or have order dependent effects, it creates such a rich playground.
I think this may be my first review ever 😊. Just started this game, beating the first round on human aspect. It was such a blast and I can already tell what a thoughtfully developed game this is. I know I just started but this very well could end up as one of my all time favorites! My one wish would be to better understand how scoring / scoring priority works. That said, not a huge deal.
Fantastic game that I absolutely recommend to anyone with an appreciation of word games. Very addicted to this game. I’ll need to find a way to support the developer.Feature request to the developer: I’d love it if the words list kept track of all the words you’ve successfully played.EDIT: And my feature request was added in the latest update! Thank you! Time to start collecting words!
Balatro has been massively influential in the world of indie game dev, but much of that influence is bad: most Balatrolikes are just worse than Balatro. This is an exception: a Balatrolike that finds its co-genre to create a genuinely new and interesting play experience that is greater than the sum of its parts.I don’t understand why this is free with no ads, but I am grateful. Please never microtransactionize it. Paid DLC for new content (the Polytopia approach) would be totally fine.
This game is fun, too fun if I’m being honest. I enjoy these roguelike games for their simplicity and the pick up and play aspect, they’re just too addicting! The only complaint I have so far is there’s no confirmation if you want to quit a game. If you accidentally hit concede, kiss your hard work goodbye! Outside of that, great game! But boy howdy do I feel dumb when all I can spell is “hat”!
So fun, so addictive. Took a few games to figure out the nuances of the boons and potions and such, but there’s definitely a strategy to deciding which ones to use and how to best manage your tiles. And the random challenges add an extra layer of complication, if you want it, which can also be fun. So glad I stumbled on this little game (as are the people I’ve already recommended it to!)
