I’m still learning but wow a subrscription I’ve been waiting for!!! There’s a reason so many people swear by Final Cut and I’m glad it’s a subscription so I can afford it as someone who’s not using it professionally yet and just wants to learn first. Someone mentioned it would be cool to transcribe a video and then be able to edit videos based on the texts from the transcribe and delete unneeded video based on the word transcribed in the video while being able to make other edits in Final Cut Pro.

  • Pretty Amazing

I’ve been a FCP user since FCP 3. When FCPX came out I was an early adopter and still use it to this day. Now that FCP for iPad is out I find myself using it quite a bit and I love it. I’m using an iPad Pro 11” M4 and it works very smoothly. It really opens up the capabilities of the iPhone as well. I’m shooting a lot of stuff on iPhone 15 Pro Max and 17 Pro Max and the way it all works together so seamlessly is great. However, I’m eagerly waiting the addition of more functionality as well as opening it up to third party plugin developers.

  • buggy App

scale the title also result in background image scaling, I don't even know if it's a "feature" or bug.when open animation it will automatically record all changes and unable to disable it, also not know if it's a bug.change anchor point of an item will result in location change, and the anchor point is reference on something I have no idea what it is but definitely not the item itself.so amazing such a simple app has so much unintuitive things😊

  • Newly crashes when moving effects onto timeline.

    Chetjlfour

Ever since the last iOS update, Final Cut is crashing on me constantly. Mainly happens whenever I drag an effect or transition onto a clip. It will crash with a dark screen and spinning icon, then send me to my lock screen. It will do this repeatedly until I try dragging my effect a slightly different way around the screen.

  • Final Cut Pro for iPad: Unclear “Pro” Value vs iMovie & LumaFusion

    SAKAimages.com

As a mobile-first drone content creator, I don’t clearly understand what makes Final Cut Pro for iPad a “pro” app compared to iMovie.Beyond slightly more control over fonts and placement, the functional difference feels minimal. For the price and positioning, I expected a much clearer leap in capability. In practice, LumaFusion better supports modern mobile workflows. Being able to move footage quickly via USB-C and apply detailed color grading directly on iPad (and iPhone) reflects how creators actually work today. While LumaFusion has areas that need refinement, it currently offers more professional utility than Final Cut Pro on iPad.The absence of Final Cut Pro on iPhone further weakens the mobile-first story, especially for creators capturing primarily on iPhone and drone.I’m not opposed to Final Cut Pro—I’m seeking clarity. What does this app deliver that truly distinguishes it as a professional tool on iPadOS? Right now, that distinction isn’t clear.

  • Good but not yet great

    doggojo

Enjoyed trying out this editing software compared to other iPad options. I’ve used da Vinci before this and the workflow is way smoother which helps a lot when I’ve clients that would like to see a rough draft Asap. However I’m giving it three stars because I feel like its missing a massive component that all videographer use. A POST STABILIZATION FEATURE. this is doesn’t make sense why it’s not in this app since the desktop version has this?! It’s always handy to get that extra smoothness even if you use a gimbal. Also I feel like the color grading experience on the app could be better and more similar to its desktop version. Da Vinci Resolve definitely goes in depth way more as an app. So if apple could accomplish adding these features which would bring up the professionalism I feel like more ppl would use this app. As for myself I’m going to have to back to da Vinci resolve since their app offers more in these areas. Please apple change this

  • Unbelievable Greed from Apple….

    Pashuter

I’ve already bought Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, Motion, Compressor, and GarageBand on my MacBook Pro M4 Max — full licenses, paid in full. Now I get my shiny new iPad Pro M4 2TB, open the App Store, and Apple tells me:“Sure, you can use Final Cut and Logic again… just pay us another subscription.”ClownsSame company, same ecosystem, same Apple Silicon chips — but suddenly it’s a completely different app that I have to rent monthly?I spent thousands building into Apple’s “Pro ecosystem,” and this is the thanks I get: a paywall to use the tools I already own on another Apple device. And to make it worse — the iPad versions are cut-down toys.No full plug-ins, no XML export, no Motion templates, half the color tools missing…If this is Apple’s idea of “Pro,” then I guess “Pro” now stands for Pay Repeatedly, Okay?Stop nickel-and-diming the people who already bought every product in your store.

  • It does the job, but frustratingly

    jac1828

It does the job but has many quirks and bugs. In the previous round it would crash randomly which was intolerable but this seems to be fixed now I am waiting to be sure. Unfortunately there are still many quirks that hold it back from being great. This is a skilled middle schooler not a heavy hitting pro. Although its possible to copy and paste your settings, it is not possible to apply them to all the clips in your project so as with many tasks in FCP for iPad you are forced into highly manual and iterative workflows. It does not support timelapse, i.e. setting single frame duration on a photo, as is done on the desktop version. The export process is extremely painful and frequently fails. The export is understandably long. This process needs to be maximized on your ipad screen so if it is 10 minutes or 1 hour that’s the time that your ipad will be locked up and useless for you. If you try to use “multitasking” with stage manager to add another window the export dialog will frequently close on you. In fact the swipe to close on the export dialog is a HORRIBLE misunderstanding of how anyone uses FCP. I don’t want swipe to close after my app has been grinding on a video for 45 minutes. If I bump my ipad and it is interpreted as a swipe I have lost all my work. If the job finishes and it pops the dialog the ipad can go to sleep, then swiping up to wake the ipad will close the export dialog. If the export saving process fails for any reason the popup does not come back it just disappears and your only option is to restart the whole process from scratch. Zero resilience. For a pay app, $60 a year they need to do better. This app should not be competing with the desktop for lesser functionality, it should be as good or better. If I can’t use it like a pro, then it is not pro.

  • Well worth the wait. My new favorite app

    Edwin32

I have used a lot of different video editing software programs for over 20 years. Most recently I have been using Premiere Pro. It has been a good program but there have been a lot of issues I have had with it. I have really been looking forward to the release of Final Cut Pro and now that it is finally here, it did not disappoint. In fact it is way better than I expected. Since most of the video I shoot is with an iPhone I wanted a video editing app that was designed specifically for these videos. I can now shoot at 4K and 60fps without having to worry about compatibility issues to video format conversions. But it not only handles iPhone videos well, it also handles videos from my GoPro, DJI gimbal, and older videos shot with old hand held camcorders. The app is very user friendly and extremely easy to pick up and use right away, even without going through a tutorial. It is intuitive and user friendly even for people who have never used video editing software. Yet it still retains much of the functionality that is expected from professional video editing software. The more I use this program the more I learn what it is capable of. I look forward to apple to continue to add features to the app. Final Cut Pro is way cheaper than Premiere Pro and yet it still can do everything that I was doing in Premiere Pro. In fact it is better than Premiere pro in a lot of its functionality. I will be canceling my Premiere Pro subscription and switch to Final Cut Pro.

  • My iPad Pro is finally useful

    Miotch!

I don’t know why apple dragged their feet for so long on this, being that the iPad with M1 & M2 chips have been more than capable of running Final Cut, but that being said, I can finally take my video edit workflows over to my iPad Pro and get some use out of it. I was really regretting the purchase when I realized there weren’t many apps (until recently) that really fit my needs and utilized the processing power of the iPad Pro.I’m so glad its finally here. The interface is familiar and intuitive. I haven’t found the ability to make compound clips yet, but maybe that’s not available or coming in a future update. Also, I’ve only been using it for about an hour — so maybe its there somewhere. But I’m really glad to see that I can easily make mulitcam clips, as that’s what I primarily use it for. I saw that LumaFusion added multi cam for an additional purchase, which I would have begun to use if this didn’t come out. Glad its here. Great work Apple!
