I’ve been a long time fan of this franchise ever since the original came out many years ago. It’s simple and engaging. This version is even better and they’re always hosting events which keeps it entertaining, and I’ve played this game every night before bed for over a year already. There’s a “Story Mode”, and multiple sub game options such as mini games and participating in the “Endless Run” and Boss challenges! I’m very satisfied with this game and have been ever since installing, this game is very fun and you’ll find yourself hooked too!
Loveddddd the first game and played in my free time between classes I’d like to think I got pretty good too anyway I was super excited that a new one came out but I was bummed you had to have Apple Arcade got the three month free trial and started the game OMG soooo fun loved all the different activities you can do very polished the story was short but there was still a lot to do you feel like you’ll never beat the level but then boom it just happens arcade mode is awesome too and I have 100k in all of ‘‘em endless mode seems so doable but it’s still a fun challenge only 3 vehicles but they are super fun to use and all the awesome guns and other power up’s make up for it (if your still reading I’m impressed) the upgrade system is awesome and it always feels like your working towards something wether it’s upgrading a vehicle or a gun or a badge (which is basically a gadget) my personal combo is gems magnet and rapid fire there are some cool new badges that fit your plays-tile and/or your environment in game the factory is also a really fun addition where you can manufacture items you will need Jen’s coins research chips etc also these events happen and it’s basically a free 500 coins I do hope in the future they add more guns to use when you don’t have a power up shotgun bow mayor even a knife??? The lack of adds and in-app purchases is really nice but they sure hooked me in the first game that’s 40 bucks I’m never getting back the dialogue is just silly and snarky I’ve let out a quick chuckle here and there overall great gameplay and content can’t wait to see what’s next!!!!
Don’t get me wrong, this game isn’t bad by any means. It just doesn’t hold up as well as the original, there’s so many mechanics in the game that the tutorial takes forever to get through and overall it feels like the game overdid it with all the in-game mechanics. For example the new health bar system feels like it makes the game a lot easier than the first one and if you lose any of your health than you usually get it back within the next 20 or so seconds, It removes a lot of the intensity and rush that the first game did so well. They also locked the beloved endless mode until level 10 which isn’t a huge problem if you plan to play this game for a while but it takes about an hour to get to to that threshold. They also removed the slot machine you got to spin with tokens whenever you died and replaced the equipable power up that added a lot of options and gameplay variety from the first game and replaced it with “badges” which isn’t a horrible change but I feel like those were really good additions from the first game that should’ve made its way into this one. I get that they were trying to experiment with the game but they removed so many good features from the first that it doesn’t feel as enjoyable. Aside from that the game looks and feels pretty good but compared to the passion and love the first JPJ had it doesn’t feel the same.
I had a blast playing this, but I’ve gone through all the available levels and upgraded nearly everything to the max level in a mere 3 days. The endless mode is nice — but there’s going to be no point to it after all the upgrades are completed. What am I supposed to buy with my money, blueprints, and tokens? I suggest making the upgrades more expensive (this probably sounds awful to most people, but I think it’s needed for longevity), raising the level cap on upgrades (otherwise, why farm tokens?), and expanding the “arcade” options *significantly* (only 4 games to choose from isn’t fun when 3 are always available at any given time). Finally, none of the powerups/purchases from the main game make me any better at the mini games, and the obstacles seem so random that it’s hard to say I’m improving in any other way, or if the games even progressively get harder to begin with. For example, I “completed” the gravity race game very early on, which made me wonder why it had to end at all. Making me replay same game over and over for a handful of wires/screws/chipboards is the worst part about JJ2. Please add some other ways to upgrade badges, or again, add more arcade games so that it doesn’t seem like such a grind.
The game was a bit short (but they are thankfully adding more levels soon) and it was fun to play but it was a little too easy like the bosses weren’t very difficult. Also the level system shouldn’t have a max because I’m stuck on 50 and I’ve gained so much do but It won’t go any higher and leveling up or getting do is basically useless now and there’s no point in the challenges or anything. There was a couple of bugs I ran into like not being able to upgrade sometimes the button just wouldn’t work or the game crashing when I opened it. Overall I loved this game that’s why I gave it five stars. I played the first one a lot as a kid and this was so fun to remember and with the soundtrack and everything. One of the best things in this game is NO ADS!! Most mobile games these days are desperate for money but in this game THERE ISNT EVEN COSMETICS YOU CANT GET FOR FREE AND IT’S AMAZING!!!!! I’m so excited for the new levels even though it was a bit short and easy. Thanks Halfbrick and Apple Arcade for this 10/10 Sequel!!
I loved the original. Played it for months at a time, would forget about it and pick it up years later and it was still entertaining. Something about trying to beat your high score. Easily one of the best endless runners ever made. Which is why it’s so dumbfounding that this sequel doesn’t offer an endless mode. Yes, at first this does seem like it’s as good as or better than the original in every way but after you spend a few days with it, beat all the challenges, and even grind the annoying arcade modes to upgrade everything, you’re left with nothing to do. I have 2 million + coins and 1000+ gems with literally nothing to spend them on. I assume that even once an update is released, I’ll breeze though it in no time due to the excess of coins and upgrades I have now. All of this could be fixed with an endless mode instead of forcing us to repeat the same level over and over and over again. I can’t believe how close this game is to perfection, but the simple omission of what made the first game great means that this one isn’t worth playing for very long.
