Impressive filament
This 2.85mm filament works great at 200°C on the ultimaker s5 at all speeds from 70mm/s down to whatever is needed (for fine details I run it at 30mm/s). Many folks who have seen the final product have a difficult time believing it's plastic. This is my go-to for gold colored filament (I had tried matterhackers MH build gold, but that was more of a shiny yellow). Someone else said 5 star reviews may be paid, but I've purchased every roll, and received no compensation for my review.

I bought this because my printer uses 2.85mm filament and most "silky" filaments are made in 1.75mm size. I purchased a spool in gold, silver, and copper. I have printed with the gold and silver (I haven't opened the copper yet).

First... I tested in a small calibration part and a maker coin to test the material. There was perhaps a tiny bit more stringing than I've had in other filaments ... easily tweaked in the slicer settings.

I printed a couple of parts using "vase mode" (spiralize outer contour) and the results are absolutely exceptional! (for both my parts printed in gold and silver).

The "gold" has a gorgeous shine and is very bright. It actually looks like... well, gold, frankly. From a distance you wouldn't think it was a 3D printed part. If you print thing (e.g. vase mode), the gold is very slightly transparent (which you could probably play to your advantage if you want to give some a glowing look by lighting it from behind). The silver filament is a bit more dense ... even in vase mode where you just have a single wall thickness, light doesn't really shine through it (possibly a very bright light might). I have not yet tested copper.

I've been very happy with it and will certainly buy more whenever my current spools run out.

The finish on prints using this filament are amazing! They look so good and smooth once you get the setting right. If you get the settings right... This filament has a tendancy to not stick to itself after getting extruded so it needs slower extruder speed settings and whatnot. I've also noticed that the finished prints could also split. So this filament is definitely for printing display pieces.

Mind blowing shine! This is as close to real gold as it can get!

I uploaded two pictures of my prints, done with 0.12mm layer height, each one took roughly 6 hours. Absolutely perfect results, smooth, no artifacts.

The filament is wound really neatly on the spool. Delivered in a sealed bag with a zip-lock, and dehumidifying desiccant inside.

Definitely don’t use this unless you’re around your printer most of the day and at night. Prints well to start but once I leave it alone for the evening it clogs.
It snaps very easily when reloading your printer! I’ve only gotten 5 small items from it and all but 100g are gone! 😡

3.0 out of 5 stars Foudn the product to be brittle
Reviewed in Canada on July 28, 2025
Filament seemed to be overly brittle. Printed the same 3D battery holder with the same printer and other PETG products still holding up. Battery holder with this product was broke first use. I bought an amazon return and the spool was broken but was still sealed.
