7 things that will transform the UAE HTA ecosystem. And they're happening. right. now. The UAE has been trailblazing and attracting pharma companies to the region with pharma-forward policies for years - now with a new framework to assess value, access decisions will be much more predictable. Here are the key drivers of success: 1️⃣ Understand the new health economic needs - not every product will be evaluated in the same way; cost-effectiveness is key, but budget-impact will still be the mainstay for a while. Understand what will move the needle for your product 2️⃣ Gather, or generate local data - leverage local data sources and partnerships to secure the local data that will drive a HTA 3️⃣ Consider alternative access mechanisms - define what types of agreements would be sustainable for your product & incorporate patient reported outcomes within these where possible 4️⃣ If you have an ATMP, work with authorities to support the development of access pathways 5️⃣ Understand how your product would be assessed under international HTAs and work towards shaping those outcomes in the UAE - understand how our patients and healthcare systems are different 6️⃣ Understand the ecosystem - understand how value will be defined within your therapy and understand the local investments that may support value creation 7️⃣ Be technology forwards - identify how your therapy can be incorporated within the tech-first ecosystem that is being created in the UAE The process is straightforward but requires time, commitment & market know-how.
