Samsung has confirmed plans to shut down its SmartThings Tracker feature that helps users locate Tracker devices, but it’s not the end of the actual tracker functionality.
Update: Article has been updated as the “Tracker” Samsung is referring to is likely the dedicated SmartThings Tracker device, not Galaxy SmartTag. Today’s announcement of Galaxy SmartTag 3 still references SmartThings Find, implying that Samsung is not shutting down this service. The article below has been updated.
SamMobile highlights a notice from Samsung regarding the discontinuation of the “Tracker Service” in its SmartThings app on both Android and iOS.
The notice reads (edited for formatting):
We sincerely thank all customers who have used the Tracker service.
Due to a change in our service operation policy, the Tracker service will be discontinued on October 31, 2026. As a result, starting November 1, 2026, Tracker service features, such as location checking and notifications for Tracker devices, will no longer be available. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and thank you once again for using the Tracker service.
This service allowed the SmartThings app to show the location of Tracker devices which launched several years ago and are not currently sold.
