Shopping by Voice

Add items to your shopping list, check prices, discover deals, and shop Amazon with just your voice. Your list syncs across Echo devices, the Alexa app, and the Amazon Shopping app.

Personalized Assistance★

The new Alexa understands context, remembers your preferences, and can have multi-step conversations—making it easier to get things done through more patient, flexible interactions.

Try something like:

• “Alexa, help me write a message to my mother-in-law for her birthday. … Make it sweeter and include a few rhymes.”
• “Alexa, I’m allergic to garlic, give me recipes without it. … Find ones that also include tomatoes. … Show me only recipes that are below 800 calories per serving.”
• “Alexa, help me write a message for my doctor.”

Alexa+ Proactive Help★

The new Alexa can take multi-step actions on your behalf—booking appointments, managing your calendar, ordering essentials—so customers with limited mobility can accomplish more with less effort.

Try something like:

• “Alexa, what are vegan restaurants nearby rated 4 stars and above? … Make a reservation for 4 on Saturday at 7 PM. … Actually, make that 7:30 PM.”
• “Alexa, schedule a ride for me tomorrow at 10 AM.”

Alexa Routines

In the Alexa app, set up a single request to trigger one or multiple actions at once. One trigger, your whole morning handled.

★ With Alexa+, you can now set up, delete, or modify routines by voice.

Try something like:
• “Alexa, everyday at 7:30 AM, turn on the bedroom lights and play classical music.”
• “Alexa, if the temperature outside is above 72 degrees, start the living room fan.”

Call Translation

Alexa translates audio and video calls in real time, so you can connect with the people you love across languages.

Vision

If you are blind or have low vision, these features can help you identify, navigate, and interact with what's around you.

VoiceView Screen Reader

Included on Echo Show devices. Navigate using simple gestures and hear audio feedback for every action on screen.

Show and Tell

Hold up a packaged household item to an Echo Show device and ask, “Alexa, what am I holding?” Alexa identifies it for you and can provide details on its content or nutritional facts—supporting more independence in the kitchen.

Screen Magnifier

Zoom in and pan across your Echo Show screen to make content easier to see.

Alexa+ visual input★

With this new Alexa+ visual input feature, you can use the camera on Echo Show devices to get details about objects you are holding or descriptions of your surroundings.

Try something like:
• “Alexa, does my shirt have a stain on it?”
• “Is this a can of beans or cream of mushroom?”

More ways to customize

Closed Captioning

Watch Prime Video and other supported content with customizable subtitles on your Echo Show devices—adjust the text size, color, and style to fit your needs.

Preferred Speaking Rate

Ask Alexa to speak faster or slower—whatever feels right for you.

Speech

If you are nonverbal, nonvocal, simply aren't using your voice, or speak at a different pace, you can interact with Alexa by touch or adaptive feature.

Tap to Alexa

Access Alexa entirely by touch on Echo Show devices and Fire tablets. Tap preset tiles for weather, news, and timers—or type anything and have it spoken aloud. Save your most used phrases as custom tiles right on your dashboard.

Real-Time Text

During Alexa calls and Drop Ins, a keyboard appears on screen so you can type messages that show up live on both sides of the conversation.

Adaptive Listening

Alexa waits for you to finish before responding, giving you the time you need to speak at your own pace. Note: Turning this setting on will give you more time to finish speaking before Alexa responds (English support only). Because of this, Alexa will wait to start responding to you until Alexa is certain you are finished speaking. This may slow down the pace of your conversation.

Mobility

If you have a mobility disability, you can interact with Alexa by voice.
