Radio UserLand

Macintosh Classic and MSIE

When you run Radio UserLand and Microsoft Internet Explorer (MSIE) on Macintosh OS Classic (versions 9.x or lower) on the same machine, pages in your desktop website pages will load very slowly. This is due to a feature (some might call it a bug) in MSIE -- it doesn't yield enough of the processor while waiting for the response from the server. We have alerted Microsoft to the issue.

There are several options for improving performance to an acceptable level:
  1. Use a different browser, such as Netscape, Mozilla, iCab, or Opera.

  2. Run Radio UserLand on a machine other than the machine you're browsing with.

  3. Install the shareware product Peek-a-Boo with its Special Technology extension. Set the priority for MSIE to low. This prevents MSIE from using too much of the processor.
