Meet River! Their favorite things are playing with dog and human friends and treats. River is a bit reserved at first, but warms up quickly and is looking for a patient family who can give an adopted dog some time to decompress in the new home. River loves to play and is full of energy, and would make a great companion for an active family. River has enjoyed spending time around other dogs at the shelter, so we think they may do well with a canine sibling that is comfortable with a friend.
River has been through a few transitions recently, and may need a gentle start, but once they feel secure, theyll reward you with endless love and loyalty!

Looking for a royal member for your family? Meet Prince! Prince is a loving young man who enjoys time with his favorite people, playing with toys, and romping around in the snow. Although Prince has had a rough time recovering from a traumatic injury, he is ready to go home and live like a king! Prince can be a tad bit nervous when it comes to meeting new people, but with a little patience, he will no doubt become your right-hand man. He’ll also need to practice walking on leash politely, so he is looking for a patient adopter who is excited to use positive reinforcement. Think Prince would make a great addition to your kingdom? Come to the MSPCA in Boston to start your matchmaking conversation today.
If you think Prince could be a good match for your home and would like to learn more, stop by our Nevins Farm Adoption Center in Methuen. We have open adoption hours Tuesday – Sunday from 12:00 pm – 4:30 pm with no appointment or application needed.
Please note, in an effort to keep the stress levels reduced for the dogs in our care, our dog kennel areas will not be open to walk through. Interested adopters will work with a matchmaker on staff to determine which dog(s) they are interested in and if we can identify a match, potential adopters will be able to meet those dogs outside of the kennel. Cat and small animal areas will remain open to walk through.
Meet Reba! Their favorite things are people and treats. Reba is a happy, bouncy, and super wiggly pup, looking for a family to bring endless joy! Reba enjoys a good walk or romp in the yard like any dog, but definitely likes to settle in at the end of the day. Reba prefers the company of human friends to canine friends and would prefer to be your one and only – at least while she is settling in.
Stop by Northeast Animal Shelter to meet Reba. We have open adoption hours 7 days a week from 11:30am-5pm - no appointment needed to speak to a staff person regarding available pets.

Meet Cookie! This sweet, sensitive girl is looking for a quiet and understanding home to call her own. She came to us when her family’s landlord stopped allowing pets, after they raised her from a puppy. Cookie has a history of house training, loves to snuggle up to her people, and easily self-entertains with toys. Once she feels safe, she truly believes she is a lap dog.
Cookie is shy, and can be fearful with new people and in new environments. When uncomfortable, she may try to avoid interaction or communicate that she needs space. She’s looking for a patient adopter who understands dog body language and can read her in these moments, advocate for her needs, and help her feel safe and comfortable as she settles in. Cookie has shown that she is uncomfortable around other dogs, and would prefer to be the only dog in the home. She’ll need an adopter who is committed to avoiding dog-heavy environments and can provide leash walks in quiet areas or access to private, fenced-in spaces. A nice quiet neighborhood will be best for her comfort.
Cookie has a history of living with a cat, and could be successful again with slow, thoughtful introductions. She may do well in a home with kids who can help provide structure and training support as she continues to learn, and who understand to let her approach and interact on her terms. With time, consistency, and positive reinforcement, Cookie will be a deeply loving, affectionate companion. She is searching for a calm home, a predictable routine, and someone who is ready to meet her where she is, and earn her trust one gentle step at a time.
Stop by Northeast Animal Shelter to meet Cookie. We have open adoption hours 7 days a week from 11:30am-5pm - no appointment needed to speak to a staff person regarding available pets.
Indigo is currently in foster care: if you are interested in meeting Indigo please fill out this inquiry form and a member of our foster team will be in touch to coordinate a meet up!
Meet Indigo, a sweet, slightly shy senior pittie who enjoys naps, calm companionship, and being close to her people. She’s an easygoing, affectionate dog who would do best in a quiet, low-key home. Indigo has a few manageable medical needs, but she’s otherwise a gentle, content companion. She could live with a respectful dog who understands her shy tendencies, would do best in a cat-free home, and is looking for humans who can practice calm, considerate interactions.
If you’re searching for a relaxed, loving dog who’s happy to take life at a slower pace, Indigo may be the perfect fit.
This chonky lady is Angel! Just like her name, she’s as sweet as can be. When Angel gets to know her friends, she’s wiggly and sweet! Angel’s still got her puppy energy, she loves to get zoomies and get silly with her friends. When first getting to know Angel, she can be very worried. She needs a gentle and patient family that can meet her where she’s at- once she feels comfortable you will see the other side of her! Angel absolutely loves her toys, but can be pretty intense with them. She’s going to need a home that can respect her space and understand how to interact with a dog that shows signs of resource guarding. Because of this behavior, Angel is looking for an adult-only home. Angel could possibly live with another dog with proper management around resources.
If you think Angel could be a good match for your home and would like to learn more, stop by our Nevins Farm Adoption Center in Methuen. We have open adoption hours Tuesday – Sunday from 12:00 pm – 4:30 pm with no appointment or application needed.

Meet Huey! Huey is an eager learner who has been through several transitions in his short life. We`ve learned a lot about him and skills he is currently working on with our team, so he is looking for a patient owner to help them master manners, polite greetings, leash skills, and puppy basicstraining together will be a fun and rewarding journey!
His favorite things are training or sniffy walks, people, learning new things, and once he`s had time to get his zoomies out, some calm settling time with people. Huey is a happy, bouncy, and super wiggly pup, looking for a family to bring endless joy! Huey loves to play and is full of energy, and would make a great companion for a hiker, runner, or just an admirer of the great outdoors. Huey has enjoyed interacting with other dogs here at the shelter, but is still learning how to do so! We think they might do well with a canine sibling that likes to romp and play as much as they do, with management around their introduction.

Cupid is an adorable young pup who is eager to learn and grow. He is an eager pupil – he cant wait to earn treats and by participating in training. Cupid is looking to learn all the doggie things that come with a new home and is a great candidate for positive reinforcement. Cupid can be a little shy at first, but once he warms up, he enjoys gentle affection and a good scratch.
Cupid could live with another dog. He would do best with a confident dog companion who can serve as a positive role model and help build his confidence. Cupid has not lived with a cat before but may be able to do so with a thoughtful introduction. Cupid has lived with children in the past and could do so again with kids who understand dog body language and can participate in his training plan.

Meet Mio! He’s nervous in new situations and around strangers, so as you can imagine he’s not at his best here at the adoption center. When you meet him he’ll be something of a kitty curmudgeon. You can easily imagine him shaking his paw at you and telling you to get off his lawn. Once he’s settled in and had time to decompress, you’ll see his true self – not quite so prickly and happy to be around you. He likes to be pet on his terms with people his is comfortable with, but will let you know when he has had enough. He’s looking for a quiet, low traffic home. He’d prefer adults only or older children, and he’s not interested in living with a dog. Are you the hero he’s looking for, the person who can take things slow with him?
Stop by our Boston Adoption Center to meet Mio. We have open adoption hours Tuesday-Sunday from 12pm - 3pm - no appointment needed to speak to a staff person regarding available pets.

Jaxx could potentially live with a well-matched dog friend and/or kids who are eager to help him learn.

This stunning senior lady is Pooky, a 10 year old cat looking for her new home! Pooky came from a quiet home where she wasn’t really meeting a lot of new people, so she’s found shelter life to be a little overwhelming. As she’s been through a lot of big changes recently, she may need a gentle start while she gets ahold of a new routine, but once she’s settled in, Pooky’s sure to open up and show off her sweet and snuggly sides!
Pooky lived with another senior cat in her previous home, but preferred to do her own thing most of the time. She will likely prefer to be the star of the show and be your one and only pet while she lives out her golden years in comfort and style.
Senior cats are often overlooked due to their age – while kittens and young adults cats are often adopted quickly, many of our senior cats wait longer to find their perfect match. We think Pooky deserves the best retirement home, and adopting a senior can be extremely rewarding. They are extra grateful…and so are we!
Stop by our Cape Cod Adoption Center to meet Pooky. We have open adoption hours Tuesday-Sunday from 1pm-4pm - no appointment needed to speak to a staff person regarding available pets.

This cat is part of our Working Cat Program! This program is for cats that are not well suited for an indoor-only type lifestyle but would thrive in environments with more space, a job, and/or less pressure from humans and other pets.
This cat originally came to us from the outdoors so we don’t know a lot about his past. While they are used to people being in somewhat close proximity to feed and care for them, these are not currently social cats but would make great ‘behind the scenes’ working cats! Interested adopters must have a safe, secure structure or barn for a working cat and be able to provide adequate time for acclimation.
If you are interested, please give us a call today!
If you would like to learn more about the Working Cat Program, or would like to fill out an application, please visit: www.mspca.org/barncat

Meet Lily! Lily is a very timid cat who is going to take a while to get to know her new home and people in it. Her history is being affectionate with her owner, but still not liking things like being picked up and reached for too quickly. She is a cat who will come to you when she is ready. She hides when visitors come over. She is going to do best in a quiet, low traffic home. She lived with another cat and did really well with them, so another cat could be great for her (but would still require a slow introduction). She’s looking forward to finding her new home, where she can relax, settle in, and slowly show you the sweet, affectionate kitty she is.
Stop by our Boston Adoption Center to meet Lily. We have open adoption hours Tuesday-Sunday from 12pm - 3pm - no appointment needed to speak to a staff person regarding available pets.
