Apple macOS Rumors

The touchscreen MacBook has earned mythical creature status over the years, and we’re closing in on its debut, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. Apple is expected to launch 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros armed with touchscreen OLED panels sometime next month.

Gurman: touchscreen MacBook Pros are launching next month

While we’ve already seen plenty of leaked info on the OLED MacBooks, Gurman’s latest report specifies that the new laptops will be “significantly lighter” than the current models. We don’t get a specific value, but according to the new report, Apple implemented a new internal component structure that has allowed them to shed weight. We expect the new laptops to feature Apple’s M6 chip. Apple is reportedly currently testing the new MacBook Pros with macOS 27.2 at the helm.

The new MacBook Pros won’t be the only devices getting an OLED upgrade. Apple is also expected to give the iPad mini a bump up to an OLED panel. It will likely feature the same 8.3-inch size, and there’s no word on a redesign.

I mean if they toned it down (which they would have to, if nothing else because USB-C only does 240W) it's at least plausible. Probably wouldn't be a massive performance hit either as CPUs tend to scale really badly with power consumption.
